The West Piedmont Health District works with the people of Henry, Franklin and Patrick counties and the city of Martinsville to anticipate, prevent, mitigate, prepare for, and respond to behavior and events that could become or have become significant public health concerns.
Our local health department offices provide the following services to our community: immunizations, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, communicable disease control, family planning, health education, vital statistics, nursing home screenings, tuberculosis, breast and cervical cancer early screening & detection program, WIC, baby care, pregnancy testing, child safety seat program, newborn screening, children’s specialty services, rabies control, sewage and well inspections and permits, drinking water information, restaurant permits and inspections, and emergency and disaster planning.
