We strive for excellence in musical, clinical, and research training toward the development of empathic, highly skilled and marketable music therapists.
The establishment of the music therapy program in the 1950's and the on-campus Music Therapy Clinic in the 1970's is in keeping with Western Michigan University's long standing commitment to providing training in health-related disciplines. One of the first accredited programs in the nation, the music therapy program includes training at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. WMU's Music Therapy program is fully approved by the American Music Therapy Association.
The music therapy program provides community services both in the Music Therapy Clinic located in Dalton Center on WMU's campus and through its affiliation with over 40 medical, educational, and health-related agencies in the greater Kalamazoo area.
