I had an amazing time in Park City thanks to the White Pine Touring team! The guides are all amazing and great teachers I had both Andrea and Art!. I tried cross country skiing and snowshoeing for the first time, and learned a lot from both of them. I would highly recommend booking activities with the White Pine Touring center!
Great X-C, groomed nicely for both classic & skate. Gentle slopes, the 3 & 5 km trails are on a golf course. Clockwise on the 7 km Farm Loop trails gives you more gentle downgrades. Sometimes parking is plowed on Meadows Dr. immediately SW of Park Ave so you can access the 7km trails, but get your trail pass at the well stocked & helpful ski shop first. Feb. 2023: rentals: $30/$35 classic/skate; trail pass, $24; age 65+ & kids 6-12yrs is $12. There's also an after 3pm rate
I did a classic cross-country ski lesson with Andrea and it was great! I had done some downhill skiing but never cross country. She started with the basics and was very encouraging. I was able to do the beginner track twice and the intermediate 5k loop once. Great exercise! Everybody was very friendly, the tracks were nicely groomed with lovely scenery, and I liked the flexibility of being able to use the equipment and trails as long as I wanted after my lesson. Easy parking at the hotel too. I highly recommend giving this a try if you are at loose ends while your family skis on the mountain, as I was!
Wonderful place to classic or skate cross country ski. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Trails are well maintained and groomed. Great options for rentals, if you need them.
I’d give this a 5, but…read on. We were told about this trail by a guide and brought our own gear. We snow shoe’d the one and only run. The path was amazing with little elevation change. They are missing some markers and consequently you could end up in the fee only cross county ski run. The only ding is that we had to ask an employee twice about the location of the run and she insisted that we go somewhere else..annoying as hell. We overcame her resistance.
Snowshoe tour with Vitoria! Amazing experience! Vitoria has lots of knowledge regarding trails and took me to beautiful places. I liked it so much that I booked a second tour with her. She respect your pace and encourage you. I found my new passion on snow activity with her. Another plus: she is an excellent photographer!
I love heading up to White Pine Nordic center and using it as a base for skate skiing adventures. The track is well groomed, and I have taken several lessons to improve my skills. Huge shoutout to Marcel and Don for helping me get going in a new sport. This review, and my rating, is not related to those services. I wanted to write a longer review about my experience purchasing skate ski gear from the White Pine shop. I purchased a pair of skate skis, boots, and poles during their end of season sale at 40% off. As a novice skier, I relied on the woman who was assisting me, Paula, for advice on which gear to purchase. I am on the shorter side and so when selecting skis, I needed help determining whether I should select skis based on my weight or my height: when looking at the skis that were the best match for my height and ability level, I was outside of the weight range by a few pounds. I'd read that weight was a primary factor for purchasing skis, but also didn't want to end up with a set up that was longer than I'd be able to easily manage as a beginner. When I asked Paula if the weight range was something I should be concerned about, she reassured me that when I started skate skiing more often, I'd surely loose weight since I would be more active. Paula made this comment and assessment of me without any knowledge of my athletic history, my goals for participating in skiing, or anything else about me other than the way my body LOOKED. I was immediately horrified by the comment and in the moment tried to make a joke about how as a runner, I am already quite active. For the record, I am a serious ultra trail runner, running on average 50-60 miles per week. Instead of backing down when I responded this way, Paula doubled down. She responded by saying that I would lose weight, since compared to running, skate skiing uses more muscles in my upper body. After this, I tried to move the conversation forward, as I was uncomfortable. After about a week of sitting on this experience, I have felt progressively more angry. This woman judged me based on the look of my body and made offensive and demeaning comments towards me when I was simply asking for recommendations about gear. This left me with a horrible taste in my mouth and I was embarrassed to return to White Pine the next week because I was afraid that Paula would be there. Should I not have worn leggings? Do I not "look" like someone who should be skate skiing? Is this exciting purchase and new sport tainted now for me? Luckily, I am someone who is secure in my body's appearance and able to laugh off these comments after processing them with friends I will admit I also had a tearful moment as well. However, this may not be true for others who are shopping, taking lessons, or otherwise enjoying the amenities at White Pine. What if this same interaction had occurred with a person fighting an eating disorder? I hope that this woman seriously considers the potential impact of her words, and that she is not infusing this kind of judgement into her lessons or interactions with others. Please consider training your employees to avoid harming people in this way.
It’s all about your snowshoe/ hike guide. Victoria was fantastic! She is so much fun - she offered us many options and took over 75 pictures which she airdropped when we finished of us during our tour. She is knowledgeable about PC and we will be requesting her to accompany us going forward.
Our family of 4 adults took a private classic-ski lesson with Jen. We had a mix of alpine experience, but no x-country. The staff efficiently fitted our equipment and Jen took us out to the beginner area. She was great! In an hour we had the basics down and were able to ski the 5K loop with confidence and alacrity! We were exhausted at the end but will definitely make this a regular part of our exercise routine. Thanks White Pine Touring Nordic Center!
Great place to xc ski with several options from beginner to advanced to keep you busy for a couple of days. 35 min from SLC airport to get on the slopes, $25/day for a track pass is fair, but the tracks could have been groomed a bit better. Great nordic shop if you need anything, from boots and skis, to maintenance equipment and clothing.
