I have NEVER been to yoga prior to signing up for classes at Whole Yoga. The instructors are phenomenal; even while in a group class, they offer one on one support and suggestions to poses. There are so many different types of classes they offer, so it would be difficult to believe this couldn't be a great place for everyone. They also have a phenomenal sign up package, 5 classes for $25! At the least, I would encourage everyone to at least try the 5 classes = The facility offers all the equipment you need, so really , you just have to show up!
This is a great yoga/Pilates studio! They have a great selection of teachers, class types, and times including weekday, weekend, and evening options. It is a fairly small studio, so you can get to know the instructors and your classmates. You can pay for classes individually, or buy a multi-class pass, which is all handled electronically now so you don't have to worry about keeping track of a card. They are very receptive to suggestions for class types/times/workshop ideas, and do fun things like Pilates bingo! You can get an intro pass of 5 classes for $25, so you can figure out which classes/teachers you like without too much commitment. I like it so much though that I go with the monthly unlimited pass now, even though I travel from south Laurel! It shares space with a chiropractor who also sometimes teaches yoga!, massage dude, and acupuncturist, so is convenient if you want to do other healthy stuff. It is right next to papa johns, so is ALSO convenient if you want to do less healthy stuff!
I bought the 5 for $25 beginner package and took all different instructors and varying classing. It seems they have moved away from a card system and all purchases recorded in their online oay system so no worries about loosing a card system. Every instructor was very knowledgeable who understand body dynamics and safety. They all provided clear concise instructions with opportunities for all fitness levels. Beginner or advanced practitioner? No problem! They make it fun with monthly games and challenges. I just bought my monthly membership and look forward to continuing pilates bingo for the month of July. I am also looking forward to their next yoga and hike event.
The teachers are great, and I'll miss them, but I won't be coming back because the owner is a real pill. Don't ever lose your ten-class yoga card. It took 3 tries with her to finally discover the owner's policy on lost cards, which was "we'll replace your card, but first you've got to purchase another yoga card and we'll add them on." Since I didn't have $100 handy at the time, I declined. The run-around caused by 3 attempts to discover her policy really left a bad taste in my mouth. I won't be coming back.
I bought the 5 for $25 beginner package and took 2 classes so far. The place is clean and has more than enough props for all students and that is awesome. My only complain to date, is that both classes I took started late and ended a few minutes early. Coming from a style of yoga where the practice is 1.5 hour I already find it difficult to go for a one hour class. So if the teacher does not start on time and end a few minutes early, I may get 50 minutes of yoga. That is very disappointing to me. The second class was a restorative and again the teacher started the class 8 minutes late and at the time the class was suppose to end I was already putting my props away. I felt that had she started and ended on time we would have had enough time for an additional pose. I will continue my package, but if the classes continue to run late and end early, I will quickly loose interest in this Studio.
Highly recommended...I've been attending yoga and pilates classes at Whole Yoga for 2 years. They have great supportive teachers and reasonable prices. Chiropractic therapy, acupuncture and massage makes this the place in the Odenton / Ft Meade area for your complementary and alternative health care needs.
Absolutely fantastic teachers and programs they offer. They helped me to get fit, change my habits, clear my mind and learn to release everyday stress. I would suggest anyone to sign up for their unlimited practice package as it's not only affordable but 100% beneficial for anyone who wants to live a healthy life and belong to a great yoga community.
Best Yoga and Pilates studio in the area. Experienced friendly instructors combined with reasonable prices makes Whole Yoga the tip of the spear in personal performance and overall well being. GREAT DEALS TOO!!
I was in a wheelchair for a year, due to my post polio syndrome, and was told that I would not be able to walk anymore. After a total hip replacement in 2011, I started with classes and sessions at Whole Yoga. Needless to say, I am NOT in my wheelchair, I am so much stronger, and I am so grateful to Dr Tom, Laurie and all the teachers who up to this day guide me on my journey to a healthier, stronger mind and body.
The instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere is intimate and the classes do not get overcrowded. I highly recommend trying their classes. They offer affordable options for passes.
