Wichita Brazos Museum and Cultural Center ~ Preserving Knox County History
The Wichita Brazos Museum and Cultural Center holds many interesting items, including community displays, family histories, veterans information, pictures and memorabilia of past years. Plans began for the museum in 2001 after the Knox County Veterans Memorial was completed. The museum office and exhibits were moved from the county courthouse in February 2008. The grand opening was held in June 27, 2009. The Friends of the Knox County Historical Commission spearheaded the museum and the veterans memorial.
The Knox County Historical Commission holds a Veteran's Day Program program each November 11th at the Knox County Veteran's Memorial in Benjamin. The Friends of the Knox County Historical Commission have a meal yearly on the first Sunday in February at the Benjamin Ex-Students Building, hold a garage sale at the Perry Patton Community Center in Munday each September, have a booth selling homemade ice cream at the Watermelon Festival in Knox City the last Saturday in July and Breakfast on the Porch at the museum during Benjamin's bi-annual homecoming (even numbered years, second weekend of June).
Free admission. Closed 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m. for lunch. Open Saturdays and Sunday's by appointment only.
