Roses, shade trees, lots of birds. Peaceful place for people to enjoy sitting on the park benches under the rose trellises. The City of Petaluma requires that dogs be on leash at all times. There are no hours defined but dawn 'til dusk is a good idea.
The park was dedicated to the City in 1939. The land was donated as a bequest from the late Elizabeth Wickersham Maclay in honor of her mother Mrs. I.G. Wickersham. It was designed by J. Wallace Mann in a Victorian style with rose trellises framing park benches. There are many varieties of roses as they were a favorite of Mrs. Wickersham. The shade trees are magnificent and include 18 varieties: Redwood, Birch, Magnolia, Norway Maple, Red Maple, Japanese Maple, Silver Maple, Pin Oak, Northern Red Oak, Sweet Gum, Sawleaf Zelkova, Ash, Raywood, Horsechestnut, Privet, Atlas Cedar, Gingko and Photinia.
