Loved this camping spot. It's secluded yet nice and close to Lincoln and Woodstock plus all the other amazing trails in that area. Will definitely be staying again. Please respect the camp rules as always, keep it as clean as it was when you first arrived and enjoy! Restrooms: I suggest putting something minty under your nose like toothpaste or like me, icy hot, if you're using these on really muggy and warm days LOL. They do a great job of keeping them clean but could use a bunch of saw dust down in the holding area to help with the smell.
We set up a tent last minute, and the man that works there was very helpful and friendly. We'd definitely camp here again. Restrooms: I'm not huge on outhouses, but this was one of the cleanest ones I've been in.
Really enjoyed camping here. Beautiful fall colors in the area stayed here the last weekend in September. Sites are well spaced out so you don't feel surrounded by neighbors. Our site was recently raked and the fire pit was clear/clean when we arrived. We had one of the closest sites to the road site 2 but the highway is quiet during the evenings and we were not bothered by road noise. We did see that site 22 a hike-in site looked particularly nice as it's set down a slope from the campground road. We would try to reserve that one if available when we come back.
Had another awesome 10days!!! So much to do in The White mountains, National Forest!!! Thanks Bob n Carla our campground hosts...
A good simple smaller campground. Three simple vault toilets, which were decently clean. There are scattered water faucets around the grounds. The campground itself was very quiet and got quite dark. You could hear the infrequent passing of vehicles on the adjacent highway throughout most the grounds, but it began to blend into the surroundings. Walkable access the small river across the road.
The campsites were all nice and large, but the campground was pretty close to the road compared to most national forest/park campgrounds. You could frequently hear cars going by while at camp. If you want to be close to town and don't mind that this campground is nice but if you are looking for seclusion and isolation then this is not the best.
It pains me to leave this negative review because overall the campground is lovely. Small, secluded, with good size campsites. You can't blame the campground for bad neighbors read on but I can blame the hosts of this campground who really failed in their responsibilities. Hosts do change every year, so if you're reading this review not in 2020, take the below with a grain of salt. Our experience on 9/18 was horrid. The campsite next to ours far exceed the number of allowable campers, stayed up until 4 AM yes, 4 AM loudly hanging out. Had multiple disruptive guests arrive between 12 AM - 2 AM. And, because it was cold, a few campers slept in their cars WHILE RUNNING filling our campsite / tent with exhaust. I've camped a lot, and I know everyone has a bad neighbor camping story, but this was by and far the worst I've encountered. I saw no presence from the hosts, or anyone else, patrolling or ensuring campground rules were followed. In many other National Forest campgrounds I've stayed at I've seen hosts do a "round" at evening to check on the sites, or sometimes even a police patrol. If either of those things had happened I suspect we would have had a much more enjoyable night. I really have to wonder where the hosts were on a Friday night, which is usually the most popular night for a campground. We left the campground early the next morning and found another walk up spot in a different campground so we could have at least one good nights rest.
Nice rest area while riding bicycle, especially during off season
Stayed here this week with my 8 yo twins and my husband. We had a wonderful time. Its a beautiful campground. Some sites have river access. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Been staying at this campground for 8 years now and it never disappoints. Love the fact there is no cell service because it gave us more time to enjoy this beautiful place.
Camp host yelled at me from 200 feet away telling me that my dog had to be on a leash at ALL times. There is a way of speaking to people instead of yelling. Walk over and politely say the same thing, the message will be more warmly received. Women's bathroom had not been cleaned all weekend, Labor Day weekend. Too bad, campground is nice, just need better hosts.
