A free legal aid clinic dedicated to improving the quality of life in our community by ensuring that everyone has equal access to justice.
Established in 1994, the WBLAC represents nearly two thousand clients per year, primarily assisting with issues related to child support, probate, divorce, child custody, landlord-tenant law and other areas that can impact the quality of life for children and their families. As a part of the Salvation Army and partnered with Wayne County Circuit Court, the clinic utilizes a small staff of attorneys and volunteer student interns to provide consultations, prepare pleadings and appear on behalf of clients who qualify for assistance.
The WBLAC is committed to the belief that access to exceptional advocacy for all members of the community is a crucial component of a free society and that a positive experience with the legal system can be life changing. Through education and outreach, the clinic also seeks to empower its clients to advocate effectively for themselves and to help navigate the challenges posed by our complicated system of justice.
