This review is based on my recent visit this past Thurs, December 01, 2022. [PO Box] Lots of boxes available as you enter the bldg. Also as you enter the building the large self drop off box is there for you to drop of pre-paid packages, and it slides into the back for security. Please note the building is closed after hours so you won't be able to access your Boxes. [Front Desk] The Front desk will usually cycle 2 Team members at opposite ends of the front counter. This is great for privacy and security as you discuss your needs to the Team members. The line is standard like most USPS, where it hooks around with a middle table divider for you to place your package or fill in last minute labels. [Supplies] Most standard supplies like Priority & Express boxes/envelopes and cert/insured labels are available for you to pickup, fill in, and use. Those specialty items can be requested once you get to the front and the Team Members have always been able to help out. [Team Members] The FRIENDLIEST and most professional, and nicest group you'll ever meet in Yakima! So far, I've noticed there's 3 main front members who cycles 2 in at a time. All 3 are amazingly supportive and compassionate for your needs. [Services] The members are more then qualified for serving your needs. Priority Mailing. Ebay mailing. Insured mailing. Letters to Santa. All your needs can be found here. [Parking] The front has staggered parking to help out. Since it is a smaller location, street parking is currently Free along 3rd street. I personally would recommend the street parking, walk an extra 10 feet to the front door because when you leave it is quicker to get onto either Yakima Ave or Walnut St. [Note1] This is NOT a passport location. [Note2] Those customer reviews about missing package needs to double check as the package pickup/delivery is usually located on the main location on Washington St and not this one, on 3rd St. [Office Hours] The Office Hours noted here Google Review is accurate, but Yelp is incorrect. Mon-Fri = 08:30 to 05:00PM PST. [Final Thoughts] Please apply the "Golden Rule" that we were all taught when we were little. The Team Members do a stressful job and everyone do feel "entitled" because we all believe our packages are the most important in the world. Treat the staff respectfully, and you'll be amazed at how quickly and efficiently things can be completed for you.
Yet again another package ditched on service. Claims business was closed. I tested them today at my place of employment. 6:15 says office is closed. I’m still on front lawn debating on how to approach this tomorrow. I don’t know what it is about Yakima but usps fedex and ups are a joke. Must not have employees who want to work. Will be filing a complaint due to this especially since I changed delivery addresses from my home to Office for this exact reason. BAD. BAD. BAD. A 5 year old on a bike could do a Better job.
The building is stunning, especially at dusk low light
I don’t understand all the negative reviews, put yourself in the shoes of a worker at what appears to be severely understaffed post office. I ship packages at least once a week, usually more like 1-3 times a week and I can tell they are doing their best with what resources they are given and always have a great attitude even though I’ve witnessed first hand how they can be treated by inpatient or overly dramatic people. Don’t pay attention to all the haters, keep doing what your doing! I know I’m not the only one that feels this way. Thanks!
Nice staff, clean and organized place. The parking lot is small though.
Mail carriers keep cutting through my yard which leads to my dogs coming out to greet them barking. This does not happen when they do not cut through my yard. Now they will not deliver my mail if they hear the dogs barking even when the dogs are put away. Good enough for government work I guess
Friendly, very helpful staff. Fun and personable.
Anytime I come into this location they are always rude. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to postage, so when I do not know how to answer their questions, they ask again in a condescending tone and hardly try to explain things to me. Last night I came in at one minute to closing and the woman was extremely rude to me! She was raising her voice as she barked instructions to me. She asked me "A or Be," and I said, I don't know what that means and she said it again. I let her know that I didn't know what she was talking about so she said, "A OR B!! THE HOUSE NUMBER ON THE PACKAGE IS EITHER A OR B". I then let her know that she was speaking to me in a rude tone and she said, "WE ARE CLOSED." I then asked her to stop yelling at me, and she told me to go to another location where they close at 5:30 pm. Honestly, she didn't need to let me in if she was going to yell at me. I would have preferred to wait until the morning to send my package then sit there and be yelled at because someone hates their job.
Just moved to Yakima and they've lost or returned all my packages without giving me a phone call. My wedding day some stuff was to arrive in the mail it is three days late and my wedding is tomorrow. I'm so angry I tried calling and the automated voice part took about ten mins so by the time I spoke to someone it was closed. So they couldn't help me. Very poor customer service. They also lost my sisters payment for rent so I'm being honest dont work with these people.
Very genuinely helpful staff. They make sure I have the appropriate and least expensive box for the items I have. Every item, be it a letter or package small or large has arrived to my friends and family. For many years here in Yakima, I have always looked forward to a trip to the post office.
