During our stay at the hotel for a wedding, we were truly impressed by the exceptional service provided by the staff. In particular, Brittany at the front desk, who we believe hails from Venezuela, and the lovely French lady at the "Grub and Go" store left a lasting positive impression. Their kindness and attentiveness towards our children meant a great deal to us. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel based on our wonderful experience.
Perfect location if you're coming to spend time in historical Williamsburg. This property is located a very short walk away from the main attractions. As a hotel guest you get significantly discounted tickets for the museums - ask concierge about it concierge desk is opposite to front desk. They provide ghost tours as well. Front desk employees were quick and friendly, recognized titanium status and provided vouchers for elite member breakfast. Plenty of parking space, additional lot on the opposite side of the street. Has a restaurant and a cafe on site. Breakfast was tasty at the restaurant though it can get crowded and you may need to wait for a while to be seated. Rooms are a bit dated, had couple issues: TV was not working at all and room service forgot to attach half of the shower curtain. I did report issues to the front desk the next day and they there apologizing and provided free parking in result, which was a nice gesture. Rooms: Well furnished, showing a bit an an age though. Standard rooms are pretty standard size, nothing special. TV was not working, but we did not come for that. Nearby activities: Hotel is steps away from mains streets of historical Williamsburg. Walkability: We were able to walk to all attractions, leaving our car parked all time. Food & drinks: Good food options on site and plenty more within walking distance. There is a nice little cafe as well, makes good coffee at below Starbucks prices.
Our room was spacious, clean and pretty. The location is wonderful for visiting William and Mary or historic Williamsburg. Our kids and teens enjoyed the pool, which is large and fun. The staff was kind and helpful - especially the cleaning staff at The Tyler House who were helpful getting extra towels. The lobby is large, spacious and we'll decorated. The courtyard is lovely for a drink. Thank you for a nice stay! Rooms: Clean and spacious. Safety: Quiet and safe. Walkability: Easy to walk to shops and restaurants.
My family and I stayed at the Williamsburg Lodge recently and absolutely loved it. We had a 2 queen room in the Tazewell part of the resort, and it was spacious and looked recently renovated. Sweet Tea and Barley was really good as well. We didn't have reservations, but they allowed us to sit outside by the fire pit it was not on and eat there. The food was amazing, and the service was superb. The best part of the lodge was the location. Right in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg gave us the opportunity to walk everywhere. We didn't utilize the pool or the fitness center, but there is no need when you can walk everywhere. The only downfall of my stay was this one incident where one of the rooms near me decided to leave their yapping dog alone in the room. I understand this is a pet friendly hotel, and I appreciate that. I did not appreciate the owner leaving their dog. And here I thought my kids would be too loud. Laughable. All and all it was a great stay and we will definitely be back.
Have stayed here before and no issues. This time no shower gel refilled in 4 days, had to ask for soap at the front desk and no one seemed concerned or followed up. Mentioned it at check out and didn't even get a reply. The plus is location and availability to get transportation via the hotel or bus. The hotel needs serious updates and the rooms needed cleaned. Breakfast was delicious in past stays but left a lot to be desired on this trip. Marriott needs to step up as the expectations are certainly not being met. Rooms: They are in serious need of updates and this stay left a lot to be desired in the way of cleanliness. Walkability: The plus for the hotel is the proximity to Colonial Williamsburg. Very easy to walk to the historic area.
Upon checking into the room, we found a subway sandwich in the fridge, a pill on the floor and the pillows had a terrible smell that smelled like body odor. The shower head was very rusty and dirty. The patio area was very dirty. One of the chairs is missing a cushion. We didn’t spend any time out there due to how dirty it was. The room was very damp. The air worked pretty well. The hotel was quiet. Both ice machines on second floor were broke Have to pay nightly to park. No complementary breakfast available. There is a grab and go option for a price, but a few items add up fast. An iced coffee and breakfast sandwich will run you about $15.00. The grounds are pretty clean. To use the pool you have to cross a street. Overall, I’d say this stay was 5/10. The initial dirty room, dirty patio and stinky pillows was a bad first impression. This is a pricey stay, so stuff like that shouldn’t happen. I’d recommend staying up the road at the Hampton inn OR if you’re going to splurge, stay at the inn not this lodge. At least when we stayed at the inn, everything was super clean.
We have stayed at this lodge several times in the past. But, not since prior to COVID. Usually, the service is amazing. Arrived at 4pm and our room wasn’t ready until after 6pm. No big deal since we were planning to get something to eat anyway. Day 2 our room was serviced during the day. However, no hand towels and only one washcloth were provided. Again, no big deal. We made do. Day 3 went back to our room to rest at about 3:30 and our room had not been serviced yet. At about 4:30 the guy came to service our room and made sure we had everything we needed. I don’t in anyway blame the staff themselves. It seems like a management issue. I will say that the bellhops that took us back and forth to different area attractions were amazing. Without that particular service, we likely would not stay at the lodge again. Walkability: Easy walk to all of the shops in Colonial Williamsburg Food & drinks: Sweet Tea and Barley has delicious food and the service is top notch Noteworthy details: The gift shop in the Lodge has a very nice section of unique gifts. They sell the spa collection with lavender and lemongrass…which I love!
It was our wedding day. We called a WEEK before our reservation and asked for two things: An early 2pm check-in, and a cheeseboard waiting for us in the room. They said yes to both, so we designed our itinerary around this promise. IF YOU COULDN'T DO IT, YOU SHOULD HAVE JUST SAID NO! Because they said yes to those requests, we planned to be able to drop off our bags and have a little snack before continuing with our busy day. OUR WEDDING DAY. I even called the day before to double-check and confirm once more that the room would be ready at 2pm. It was not. We ended up waiting in our car for two hours until they finally called to tell us the room was ready. They were not apologetic at all. Then, to add insult to injury, the maid was hovering outside our door at 9:30 the next morning and asked us how soon we'd be checking out! Also, the concierge NEVER picked up the phone or returned any of our 3 phone messages the day before our stay. What a disappointing and infuriating experience. We will never stay here again.
For over $200 a night, the room was just a mediocre hotel room. I booked the deluxe king room and the bed was so uncomfortable, by the 4th night my back and neck were killing me. The towels were like sandpaper and our shower curtain was barely hanging on. I expected a lot more comfort of the room for the price we paid. The location is excellent and the staff were very friendly!
Hannah at the front desk was amazing. She was so helpful with our check in and provided us with so much information about the area. I also witnessed her having so much patience helping an elderly woman. The hotel as a whole was amazing as well. Very clean and everyone was very polite. We enjoyed being literally around the block from the historical area.
