Played Saturday a few weeks back, not impressed at all by the condition of the course compared to last year. The rate of play was horrible, 40 minutes behind at the turn. The last bit that was a surprise was the $20 “rider fee”. I booked online with what I thought was the cart option on the website. Upon checking in I was informed everyone riding has to pay $20 additional. At the end of the day, $90 for a public course that is absolutely chewed up is worth looking into other courses in the area.
I loved this course! The layout was perfect, and the bunkers and water were placed in challenging places. If you don’t hit the fairways, you either have to hack it out of the rough out get tree-trouble. The bunkers and tee boxes are in great condition, and not too many divots in the fairway. The greens had different levels of tiers which meant you have to hit it in the correct areas. The range + practice greens are good as well. My only complaint would be that the greens have some inconsistencies with ball marks, but you expect that at a public course. I would recommend this course to players of all skill levels, and it is very walkable as well.
This place used to be wonderful. It was remodeled last year into a trendy eatery with hard surfaces, hard floors and lots of echoing noise. Menu very limited and prices doubled. After being seated, we waited for 20 minutes while other arrivals arrived after us, were seated and served. We walked out and headed to nearby Hackney's.
While the course and facilities were quite nice, what left me with a bad taste about this club was the attitude of some staff members. When I went to tee off, I was met with unnecessary and unprovoked attitude from the attendant who made me feel quite unwelcome. He kept stating I missed my tee time and I can’t be showing up late even though I had switched my tee time with the gentleman in the pro shop. I understand it is important to be on time in order to keep pace, but I felt like I was being reprimanded for nothing given I had a receipt from the pro shop and we were at the first hole on time for the new set tee time. He spent 5 minutes complaining about how we missed our earlier tee time which in those five minutes he could’ve just let us tee off. I got the sense that unless you are a member or a regular you would not be treated with the same standards, which is really unfortunate given that golf is a sport many people especially young woman like myself already feel excluded by and for beginners this kind of attitude and treatment could definitely turn people away. Other than that, The course really was beautiful! Just wish it could be more welcoming :
I was at the Wilmette golf club for an Evanston chamber event. I did not use the golf course but we had an event lunch, which was pretty good. I really enjoyed walking along the paths – the mature trees are amazing and beautiful.
The course itself was really beautiful, and we had a great game there. However the treatment I and my friend received as two young women was extremely rude and disheartening. Despite showing up on time, we were constantly berated for not being on time, which made us even more late. The staff acted like they didn't even want us there they probably didn't and acted like we would be slow/incompetent before even seeing us play, which made every step of checking in and getting a cart difficult. Everyone there was a man and this clearly affects how they treat female clientele, which is sad considering golf is already a male-dominated sport. Do yourself a favour if you're a woman and avoid this place.
Very good, properly prepared food. Open year round. We went in early March for Saturday lunch with our 3 children. Good children's menu options. Very good omelet with side salad. Wife enjoyed the brioche French toast.
This used to be a good value to get 18 in early. They’ve decided that it’s OK to charge $20 more than last year. The layout and course conditions don’t justify a $60 greens fee to walk. I will be playing other courses in the area.
Fantastic course that take a few times to play to really appreciate. Asking both precision and imagination from the player, all skill levels will find something. Fairways are tight and greens are undulating, making sure you're in the right position for approaches. Range is mats only but chipping and short game area is nice. Great course to walk, if you can, you should play.
Played on a Saturday late morning which understandibly will be crowded. Didn't see a single ranger monitoring place of play. Also, stay away from the cranky grandma that works in the pro shop.
