I wanted to love it, honestly I did. But, we did not have a great experience. While the room was clean, the linens were very uncomfortable on the skin, the TVs had a nice array of channels but, we had issues with remotes. The room got warm in the afternoon and it took hours to cool. The dishwasher wouldn't lock so, we couldn't use it. I will say the maintenance staff who came up was very nice and friendly but, we had to call 3 times before the front desk staff didn't hang up on us. Speaking of front desk staff, the check in process was laborious and long and the staff was not very helpful. The indoor Waterpark is the best part but, the amount of rust and water dripping down is unnerving. Lifeguards were a mixed bag of friendly and rude. Though the first aid staff was very nice when we needed them. Overall I can't say we will return.
This was our second visit here. Nice place. Had all we needed for entertainment for the kids. Plus it isn't so huge that you lose your kids. Our room was clean. Only wished that we had known about the buffet breakfast. Probably would have eaten that. Probably would returnRooms: 4/5
I reserved the room and breakfast on the phone for my family vacation. As soon as we get there the receptionist told me that there is no breakfast included in my reservation. I told her that the guy on the phone told me everything is included and our conversation is recorded. Finally the manager traced our conversation and confirmed that I was right and she offered me breakfast for free. And the issue is resolved. Thanks managers!!!! Besides that our stay at Chula Vista was great. See you next time. Rooms: Sofa bed needs replacing and it needs more elevator. Food & drinks: We had great time on breakfast and dinner with family. Multiple varieties of food and drinks.
I will start with the good. The location was nice enough, just off the beaten path of the Dells main busy area. The water park was also good and the kids enjoyed it. They also had a nice variety of food options, but very high priced. The bad, however, far outweighed any of this. First, we paid for an upgraded suite over by the golf course and it was absolutely filthy. The hallways were filled with trash bags and wet towels. I wonder if housekeeping was even present. The room itself had black soot all over the floor and tile. I called guest services the next day to request that they come and at least vacuum to try to keep our feet from turning black and despite saying they'd come, no one ever showed up. I think it is funny that they relentlessly call and pester you about taking a timeshare tour, but act annoyed when you tell them a legit problem, then don't even address it. In addition to the disgusting floor, there was mold all over the bathroom ceiling as well as holes in the walls. I took pictures of all of this, but no one during check out even asked me how my stay was, so I didn't even both showing them. Also, the neighbors next door sat out on their balcony smoking marijuana the entire trip and made it so our kids could not go out on our own balcony. I would have reported this to the front desk, but they didn't even care that the room was filthy, why would they care about anything else? Additionally, the toaster was broken, only toasting one side and the beds didn't even have fitted sheets or comforters. Don't even get me started on all the bugs and spiders crawling all over the place. With all of the water park resorts in the Dells, I can't ever imagine that we'd return and would suggest you give this place a pass as well.
The rooms were nice and the food was decent, but the water parks were just OK. The highlight of everything was the breakfast in my opinion. While it was expensive, I really enjoyed the food options. Thick-cut bacon, the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had, and omelets made to order. The water park, as I said was just OK. All locations closed at 7 which was odd to me. We were staying overnight, what else were we supposed to do if everything closes early? Of all the swimming facilities, the indoor park was the best. It was pretty much a copy-paste of another water park in the Dells and the slides were very fun. The "wave" pool next to the Margarita bar by the river, was NOT a wave pool. At least it never made waves in the hours we were there. Also, the Margarita bar left more to be desired. It was more like a concession stand. Although the food was actually pretty good. I was hoping for something more like a restaurant bar with some atmosphere some music would have been nice at least. Instead, all of the bars/food stands in the water park areas were staffed with underpaid folks who would have been happier elsewhere. It would have been awesome if that Margarita bar stayed open past 7 pm like who closes a bar at 7?, they had some chill music playing, the staff was well trained and paid, and lights were strung throughout for the night life. Add another jet tub and we would have perfection. We would have stayed paying a bar tab into the night.
Stayed the weekend of July 14-16. I thought this place we great! We arrived early, and we were able to use the pool while we waited. It was so nice that we could pre-register, and have some fun while we waited for a text with our room numbers. We were a group of 9 total, and booked the 3 bedroom condo. It was perfect. Had a full kitchen so we made breakfast, and dinner. the living room was spacious and a great hangout spot. Rooms were clean, the jacuzzi tub i thought was in a weird spot, but it was nice. Only complaint I have is that the front desk could have been more welcoming. I worked in hotels for about 5 years, working from front desk on my way to being a GM at one point. The energy of the front desk felt cold and awkward. There was no effort to make small talk, so we just stood in silence while she was taking our payment. The front desk sets the tone of the hotel, so they definitely need training on how to at least act like they want to be there and be proud of their work. To be honest it seemed like most of the staff were not happy to be there. Phones don't get answered much, the front desk phone will just ring so i gave up. There is also no front desk staff at the condo building, only the main building. It is definitely a very family friendly hotel. The indoor pool was great, the water basketball pool was very fun for all of us. It does suck that the hours for both pools was 7pm. I can understand the outdoor pool closing at that time, but it would have been nice to have the indoor pool open a little later. I was getting anxious about our stay, I kept looking at the google reviews and so many bad ones kept coming in. But our stay was great, it made for a wonderful birthday trip.
We went with friends for the day to enjoy the indoor/outdoor pool and water park. We enjoyed the accessibility to be able to go inside or outside as we pleased. There are numerous water slides and activities inside and outside, including a water coaster, raft, body and mat slides, and a lazy River. There are plenty of places to sit both inside and outside and places to be in the sun and protected from it as well. My only complaint was that when we were ordering drinks the worker was talking on his phone while guests were waiting to be served. A manager did come over and address the situation, which was good. Other than that, it was a great place to spend a day! Food & drinks: The drinks we had were good and inexpensive. I was impressed with that. The food was pretty typical pool-side food burgers, chicken, hot dogs, etc..
The staff was pleasant but apparently unable to provide us with the room we booked which was a balcony king river view suit for $385. They first attempted to put us in a parking lot room no balcony then they suddenly "found" a room that matched our reservation....please see picture for "river view" it was an orange wall. I understand the place was full but we had a reservation, through their website for months ahead of time. We did not arrive late, there was no reason our correct room could not have been set aside for our arrival. The sheets were torn, the room dingy, ceiling paint flaking off. Our second night was a different reservation because we used points and we were given the correct room in the north tower. The room and view were mostly as advertised but when we asked how to turn on the gas fireplace we were told it was decorative. Not sure how "fireplace room" can cost more if it doesn't function. The amount of time we had to spend in the lobby crowds and the frustration of not getting what we paid for put a damper on our anniversary weekend. I would advise people book elsewhere if you can.
Was here about 17 years ago. Great place then. Even better now. Will be my go-to for the dells trips. Good size indoor ans outdoor water parks. Rooms are spacious. We had a king room with a pull out sofa. The room also had a balcony overlooking the river and riverwalk. Resort sits off the beaten path out of the city. They have built onto the property. I like to see that as Mt Olympus where we went first and the rooms were disgusting has bought up a bunch of old Norman Bates motels as their accommodations. Very nice property. No issues the 2 days we were there. At this time they do not have the capability to do room charge. So bring a card or cash with you. All in all great place and will definitely come back. Also I paid $250 a night which was worth it in my opinion.
I was very unimpressed with Chula Vista for how expensive it is! Check in was horrible. First staff we talked to told us that we had over booked people in rooms, but according to our reservation we did not. They wanted us to pay an extra $200 for the “additional people” that we supposedly overbooked but that was incorrect. The second staff we tried to check in with said nothing about us having too many people booked in our rooms but charged me an extra $40 for a “cleaning fee”. That wasn’t disclosed through booking and would’ve been nice to know ahead of time. Next, the rooms. We booked two rooms. One in the main hotel & another “Villa” almost like a condo room. The main hotel rooms had lights that did not turn on and that was the biggest complaint especially because we were there when there were sever thunderstorms and tornado warning. So light was needed but not working in the room. The villa room was spacious but so outdated and falling apart. The sheets had stains on them. We also had 2/5 lights that did not turn on. The oven was falling apart. If you leaned against it it would turn on like there was a fuse issue. The burner on the bottom fell off when attempting to pull it out to use. The chairs at the countertop table top had no cushions and were the most uncomfortable chairs to sit in. So everyone reverted to the floor instead. The patio screen door was broken and wouldn’t close all the way so you couldn’t leave the door open for fresh air without bugs getting in. The bathroom was out of “shower gel” that I doubt was shower gel in the first place. The ice machines were also not working on every other floor so we had to go find a working one a floor down from us which is so inconvenient when we are trying to fill water bottles and coolers. Out of all the places we have stayed as a family of 12 this was a horrible experience for how expensive it is. We would have been better off staying in a separate hotel & getting tickets to their water park which was the only thing that was worth it.
