The quality overall is pretty dismal compared to the city locations. The minimum I expect from a ‘bagelry’ is that they toast my bagel. I got an egg and cheese. The bagel was barely warm and the cheese wasn’t melted. I give it 3 stars since my ice coffee was good.
Very disappointed as this place looks like it will be really good. Ordered a salmon bagel, but when it arrived had one tiny piece of salmon, when I asked whether this was correct staff were unhelpful and defensive, saying there was nothing wrong with the amount of salmon. When I pointed out I’d had one previously with a lot more they changed their story and started blaming the chef. Such bad customer service, and poor food given price. I wouldn’t recommend you try it. update: note response below from owner reinforcing that it is acceptable to provide significantly less filling than is shown on their site photos show. Given this is the owner's view then it's unlikely food or service will improve
Great place good bagels and jewish rye outstanding. Went there last week end ordered a corned beef sandwich cold not warm the cashier said ok got a bag of chips ordered to go as I live out of town. Got my order $18.00 and change got home and I got a pastrami hot and it had soaked through the bagel. It is too far to take it back and was very disappointed. I will still go back because of the Rye Bread and Bagels but yep no more $18 dollar sandwich with 5 slices of meat.
The food on this place was worst than what I feed my dog. I order a Ruben, a Club, and a bagel to go, around $65. The bread was toasted so hard that you could risk breaking a tooth. No sauce no mayo no muster none offered either. I asked for a hot sause the the manager said "mm yea we have, it but is for sale on the bottles up there". We asked for Xtra cucumbers on our bagel and we where charged $.50c but did not get the cucumbers on the bagel. I pay to learn the kind a place this is, and I would not take my dog to eat there let along returning myself.
went to get a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee and it took 20 minutes with only one person ahead of me! The service is the worst. while waiting in line to place my order the line got so long and many of those waiting to place an order left. once my order was ready it sat in the pick up window for 10 minutes as two workers wouldn't give me the bagel i was told the person handing out orders would be back. This is so absurd and not an isolated incident! the bagels are not fresh and do not recommend this place it's too expensive and the service is none existent. Go to Noah's Bagels.
The matzo ball soup was a real disappointment. The soup didn't have any chicken flavor and actually had some heat to it. The matzo ball was very dense and also had some heat like the stock was made with jalapeno peppers. This was far from a Jewish matzo ball soup.
I've been a patron since this location opened, but will never again set foot in Wise Sons. I went on Thursday to purchase some Telma mushroom cubes. Knowing they close at 4:00 on weekdays, I ran out the door at 3:40. It takes me roughly 8 minutes to get to the Country Mart, so I arrived just shy of 3:50. I waited at the counter for about 4 minutes while the sole attendant, a short-haired, middle-aged woman with a slight accent, wrapped up a conversation on the phone. I asked if I could have some of the mushroom broth cubes. "Sorry, we don't have that anymore." I was disappointed. Then I looked up at the little sign reading "Mushroom consommé" next to a big jar filled with cubes. "Oh, it's actually right there!". "No, we don't carry the mushroom cubes anymore. Sorry.". "But the sign there says you still carry them. Aren't they in that jar?". "That jar just has chicken cubes. We don't have mushroom anymore. Come back tomorrow." I was confused. Hadn't she just said that they didn't carry them anymore? Then why come back tomorrow? I took her at her word and nearly turned to leave....then squinted at the jar and, sure enough, staring me in the face were packets with Telma's distinctive mushroom drawing. "I can see them right there - you do have mushroom cubes! Can I have some?" "No, we don't have any mushroom cubes, just chicken." "But I'm seeing them right there behind you! I'm looking at the mushroom drawing!" "We only have chicken. Come back tomorrow". "So...you really can't just grab some behind you and sell them to me?" "We closed at 3:00", she lied. I guess you go for a new excuse when the old one stops working? I remarked that they closed at 4:00, per the internet AND what was posted out front, AND the fact that the door was still wide open, AND the fact that a customer had just left with food the instant I came in AND he was offered a latke by an employee standing outside - why would someone be offering latkes at the door if you closed 45 minutes ago?. She replied, "We have a big catering order and are busy". She was saying whatever she could to not have to make the sale! "Is it so big that you can't grab something behind you in 2 seconds?" "Just come back tomorrow" "I won't be back", I said, and walked away, resolving to never purchase anything from Wise Sons again. The exchange was infuriating, but also perplexing. She spent way longer arguing and trying to deceive me than it would've taken to simply sell me three packs of mushroom consommé right behind her. If she had said, "I don't feel like grabbing them", at least I would've respected the directness. But don't try to gaslight me by denying the evidence of my own senses, "no, what you see in front of you isn't actually there", or "no, we closed an hour ago". It's insulting and dismissive. You're telling me you think I'm an idiot. Try the Jedi mind trick on someone else. It's easy to say "come back tomorrow" with no regard for the customer, but people make plans around your service and spend valuable time driving over during hours of operation. If you make me feel duped because you're lazy, I won't waste my time coming back. My purchase of 3 sets of cubes may seem like small potatoes, but here's the thing - you didn't just lose five bucks. You lost a lifetime of sales, along with referrals, word of mouth, future catering, etc. You don't want to sell? That's fine, I'll make sure you never have that problem again with me, my family, or my friends. It adds up to tens of thousands of dollars. I don't know what your customer acquisition costs are, but surely they're exponentially higher than the cost of retaining customers by providing bare-minimum service, instead of acting like weird, unfriendly jerks. Try filling your customer-facing roles with competent, well-mannered people with the social skills to sell things. There are too many other options at the Country Mart for you to afford otherwise. Oh, and my Telma mushroom cubes? I ordered them on Amazon right outside your store for less and they're arriving today.
First time here. Tried the bagel with smoked salmon and schmear. Tasty but not served hot and was a bit pricey, in my opinion.
Great veggie bagel sandwich!
Corned beef sandwich was full of fat. I ordered it lean. The sandwich maker was preparing sandwiches with no gloves eating scraps with his hands and making sandwiches. Discusting
