There is only one College of Fine Arts in Michigan and it is here at WMU. The College of Fine Arts houses the Frostic School of Art, Department of Dance, School of Music, and Department of Theatre.
There are only eight colleges of fine arts in the nation that have all disciplines accredited by their respective professional organizations, and WMU is among them.
All of these departments are located conveniently together surrounding a beautiful outdoor courtyard and fountain. 90 highly qualified, full-time faculty serve the college. Another 62 part-time professional artists and scholars complement the teaching ranks.

Students entering the College of Fine Arts have the highest academic profile in the university, meaning that high school grade point averages and ACT scores are the highest among all incoming freshmen. The College of Fine Arts is a selective admission unit. Thus, in addition to qualifying for admission to Western Michigan University, students who wish to major in any of the arts must satisfy departmental/school criteria, such as auditioning, portfolio review, interviews, and the like. Fine arts students are academically strong and artistically gifted.
Facilities for the learning and practice of the arts are the envy of the Mid-America region. Students perform in three theatres, a multi-media room, recital hall, and major auditorium, mounting over 400 performances annually. New visual art studies and laboratories are professionally equipped. State-of-the-art exhibition facilities host weekly exhibitions of work by students, faculty and visiting artists.
