I really hate to leave bad reviews but unfortunately that's all I have for this establishment after eating there for breakfast last Saturday morning. We sat down at our table and it was wet, our napkins and menus were placed on a wet table. The waitress seemed a little disgruntled when I asked if we could get our table dried off, the napkins we had weren't enough to dry it. We received our drinks and my cup was sticky. When we got our food my plate was chipped as seen in the picture and very sharp. The omelette was a 3 egg omelette with cheese, sausage and mushrooms, any other toppings cost extra. You did not get any sides with what I ordered either. I asked for salsa and sour cream to which I was told they don't have nor have they ever had sour cream. I was kind of shocked since I do know they have served baked potatoes. I didn't get any salsa either, I had to use jelly for some kind of flavoring. My husband got the sampler plate and was not happy with his breakfast either. The gravy was very flour forward, the eggs and tater tot casserole were very oil forward. My omelette did not taste like egg it tasted like straight oil, shiny like it too. Our waitress kept complaining about the "new things" they were trying. One of which was placing napkins under the bowls on the plates so they didn't slide off. I get it, I have dumped oatmeal on a table because the bowl slid off but the issue here was the napkins were also laying in my husband's eggs. There was another waitress who asked a couple to move so she could sit, what was obviously a favorite regular family, at the location where she sat this couple at a table instead of a booth to begin with. That waitress was also very loud and obnoxious and unprofessionally talked about our waitress with the group she just had the couple move for. They now are trying to have a cashier at the front that you pay as you leave. Awesome, except an obnoxious waitress came and jumped in front of my husband and another gentleman who had been waiting to pay to have the cashier ring out another table. It was just an unpleasant experience all the way around. I can say that the biscuit was pretty good. I think that was the only thing my husband was able to finish on his plate.
I had smokehouse cater a surprise birthday party I threw for my wife. All I can say is WOW!!! Not only was the food absolutely delicious, the owners were very understanding when my teenage daughter was a 1.5 hours late picking up our order. So sorry about that again. If you are looking for amazing food at an affordable price, Smokehouse is definitely the way to go!!! Can't wait to use them again for our Annual company Christmas Party!!!
I had seen their breakfast from a picture of one of my friends on Facebook and told my husband we needed to try it. We were not disappointed! Our waitress Kassie treated like family and our breakfast was fantastic! Kudos to the cook! The homemade biscuits are to die for! Wonderful experience! I highly recommend this place for a southern home style breakfast! Can’t wait to come back for lunch!!
Lovely authentic local restaurant. I went in for breakfast...great service from Kassie, and a perfect brekkie plate, with good coffee. Food: 5/5
Food was mediocre at best. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich and fries. No flavor even with the ketchup based sauce. More bun than meat. After 2 bites of bun and flavorless pork, I had enough. Staff was nice. Won't be back.Food: 1/5
Ordered - A burger w/fries, a pulled pork platter outside cut w/ beans and collards, an extra side of beans, and mozzarella sticks for pickup Got no extra side of beans, the pork was not outside cut at ALL, the burger was well done, the fries were soggy, the collards were completely unseasoned. The one thing of beans we did get was OK and the sauce was pretty good.
Stopped in for breakfast on the way out of town. I had a western omelet and hash browns and coffee. Sandra had a huge pancake and ham and coffee. One will do most people. Service was fast and food was great. Will be stopping on next trip.Food: 5/5
Not quite sure where to start on this one. It was highly rated by Google reviews, so we thought it was worth a shot. While the atmosphere is pleasant, much like that of a home-cooked country restaurant, the food tasted just about anything but home-cooked. The tomato sauce and green bean cans being used for light fixtures probably should have tipped us off. For the record, we ordered lunch and not breakfast. Breakfast might be fantastic for all we know, but unfortunately will not go back to dine out. I ordered the burnt ends sandwich, which the menu indicates is not always available. What I received was cold, chewy, fatty, bland brisket in between two pieces of grilled Texas toast. My side was baked beans, which tasted like they’d just been pulled from the refrigerator, they were so cold. The bbq sauce was from a can, which really didn’t enhance the flavor of anything. If they actually smoke this meat, I’d be curious as to how they smoke it and what they it with because it had no smoke flavor to it whatsoever. It tasted like it had been boiled in a pot, reheated from a couple of days ago. My wife had the Philly Cheesesteak, which she said was okay but nothing to write home about. Her side was the onion rings, which whole greasy, were good and definitely homemade. The bill was about $30, which was WAY too much for the quality of food we were served. I had read that another reviewer commented on the nastiness of the bathroom and they were correct, 100%. The restrooms at Pilot truck stops are honestly cleaner. Sorry but this place needs a LOT of work.
Went here for lunch as it was on the way to our destination and had good reviews. Got the pulled pork platter with sliced tomatoes and loaded mashed potatoes. The portion size for the pulled pork I found to be small. They don’t give different options for BBQ sauce which would be preferable, but overall sauce was OK. The mashed potatoes were inedible as they were over salted and did not feel as though it was worth a $1 upcharge. Cornbread was dry. The staff were very friendly and service was great, but the food was a disappointment.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with all the bad reviews. They are spot on. I don't know who believes that breakfast was the best in Ellijay because that was awful. My husband got 2 biscuits, one steak, which he said was not great. It had no seasoning. The second one was supposed to be smoked sausage. It looked like a sausage but it had a weird texture like minced meat in a sausage casing and a bad taste. My husband took one bite and left it, and he never leaves food behind, especially meat. I got the big breakfast plate, but I'm not sure what it's called on the menu. It came with 3 kinds of meat bacon, one of the two thin slices was editable, and the other was still raw. Ham, was so dry it might have been one step away from being jerky. The same sausage that was on my husband's biscuit. My fried eggs were decent. I got what I asked for. The biscuits were good a little sweeter than I'm used to having. The gravy was jelliton like so we didn't even touch that, and the grits were gritty tasting so undercooked. My hashbrown casserole was good but cold on top and warm underneath, and I did have to add a little salt to it. The meal costs about $30 bucks with tip. The service was what it was. It was not the best service we've ever received, but not the worst. The disappointing thing is we really wanted to like this place, but I don't think we will be going back there again.
