A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants.
Dr. James Woodyard received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Murray State University
in 1994 and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1999 from the University of Kentucky College of
Dentistry. In 2002, he concluded his education with a residency in Periodontics at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where he graduated with a Masters in Oral Biology and a Certificate in Periodontics. After graduation, he practiced in the Washington D.C. area. In 2004, he purchased an existing periodontal private practice which is now Woodyard Periodontics, PC. In November 2005, Dr. Woodyard achieved Diplomate Status with the American Board of Periodontology (ABP). He is the only ABP Board Certified Periodontist in the tri-state area and one of only a handful in the state of Indiana.
Dr. Woodyard stays abreast of the latest
advances in Periodontics with memberships
in many professional organizations including
the Pierre Fauchard Academy Dental Honor Society, American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration and the Indiana Dental Association. Dr. Woodyard is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He is also
Evolution 5 certified by and a Fellow of the
Institute for Advance Laser Dentistry.
