A dynamic school with design + construction program offerings that mirror the collaborative and integrated professional environment of the 21st century.
A collaborative, faculty-led merger of existing programs in Architecture, Construction Management, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture spurred the creation of the new School of Design + Construction at Washington State University in July of 2012.
The school currently includes 33 full or part-time faculty and roughly 650 graduate and undergraduate students across the four disciplines, establishing it as one of the largest schools at WSU and uniquely positioning it within a university-wide strategic effort towards interdisciplinary research and teaching.
The school also features long-standing disciplinary traditions, with dedicated faculty delivering top quality instruction for which its programs have become institutionally notable, highly regarded across the West, and professionally accredited (by NAAB, ACCE, CIDA, and LAAB).
Together with a larger initiative to foster graduate education and research at WSU, the School of Design + Construction (SDC) offers the Master of Architecture degree along with Master of Arts in Interior Design and Master of Science in Landscape Architecture degrees, and is working to expand the professional graduate degree offerings in Interior Design and Landscape Architecture. The school also offers bachelors’ degrees in each of its undergraduate programs—among the largest, most popular, and most rigorous at the university.
Domestic and international faculty-led tours and study abroad programs have become staples of program excellence, offering cross-disciplinary encounters as well as crucial national and global student exposure.
Student organizations are well-represented and active both on campus and throughout the region, providing the school with a significant public presence befitting of its land-grant status.
