!!! SPOLER ALERT !!! IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE, AVOID READING THIS! Screen and sound quality Service Ambiance Value Movie selection Location/Accessibility Overall experience The Super Mario Bros Movie On Easter Sunday 2023, I had the pleasure of visiting the Xscape Theatres Northgate, which is conveniently located near my residence. Having purchased my ticket online a month earlier, I was pleased to have the flexibility to choose my seat in advance and secure a discounted rate for the movie I intended to watch: The Super Mario Bros Movie. Upon my arrival, I noticed the theater was surprisingly quiet for a holiday weekend. However, the friendly receptionists promptly greeted me and assisted with my ticket retrieval. Although I experienced a brief moment of confusion locating the correct showroom, it provided me with an opportunity to appreciate the cinema's interior design. The space was expansive, connecting both the inside and outside of the mall building that housed the cinema. The bright colors of the walls contrasted against the black ceiling, creating an overall sense of spaciousness. The showrooms were situated on either side of the hallway, and there was another hallway at the end that created a T shape. Eventually, I managed to find my designated theater, where I walked through a long and narrow walkway before entering the dark and roomy auditorium. Fortunately, I arrived in time to catch the pre-show commercials, which allowed me to appreciate the high-quality sound and screen display. My seat, located two-thirds of the way back from the screen and centrally located, was theoretically the best seat in the house. The large, seamless, and slightly curved screen met my expectations, while the sound was near-perfect, although a tad bit loud for my liking. The seat was comfortable and clean, albeit showing signs of wear, particularly the headrest. The temperature inside the theater was just right, but I still felt cozy in my jacket. Only a few people shared the screening room with me, including a family of four who arrived later and whose kids were a bit noisy during the show, but it was forgivable. Now, let's talk about the movie itself, The Super Mario Bros Movie. The story revolves around Mario and Luigi, a pair of Italian brothers who work as plumbers and reside in a poor neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York City. After failing their first job, the brothers attempt to save their neighborhood from a water leak crisis. As they venture into the sewers to investigate, they are suddenly sucked into a mysterious green pipe, which separates the siblings. Mario surfaces in the Mushroom Kingdom, while Luigi finds himself in the Dark Land, ruled by King Bowser and his ghostly henchmen. In his quest to reunite with his brother, Mario enlists the help of Princess Peach. However, it quickly becomes apparent that Peach needs Mario's assistance as well, as he possesses a natural talent for parkour. The duo embarks on an exciting journey across the continent and seeks an alliance with the Kong family. After defeating DK in a one-on-one trial by combat, the alliance races on the Rainbow Road to King Bowser's castle, where he keeps the Super Star, which he stole from the Ice Kingdom as a proposal gift for Peach. A great battle ensues, and Mario ultimately learns the power of friendship, family, and courage, defeating Bowser and ending up working as royal plumbers for the Mushroom Kingdom. As a fan of the original game, I found the story to be both engaging and true to the game's lore. The animation was well-done, and I appreciated the attention to detail in the design of the characters and scenery, which remained faithful to the game's aesthetic. The voice acting was top-notch, and each voice actor succeeded in conveying the personalities of each character, adding depth to the story. The use of pieces of the original score from the video game in the Super Mario Bros movie is yet another factor that deserves recognition.
I live 5 minutes away, so the convenience is awesome, but this place truly needs a makeover! My kids love this place, but the seats are beyond peeling and torn up. It's definitely outdated, but still a vibe.
The facts: some of the best picture and sound quality in Ohio! Staff is friendly. Seats were comfortable and recline but they look scary they are very, very, cracked pleather and look very worn, all the color is gone on parts, some do not work, but 90%+ of them do, and sometimes it was not the cleanest theater I have been in this is where the minus 1 star is Prices are about the same as any regular priced theater no discounts here.
The theater seats were all cracked and discolored. There was one guy working trying to handle tickets and orders and direct ppl to the correct theater. He was amazing since he was obviously overwhelmed being alone. Movie started 15 minutes late and there was still food from the previous movie all over the floor. Such a shame to see how quickly the theater went downhill.
Pros: near my house. Comfy chairs. Nice staff. Cons: seats are breaking down, bathrooms need repair, kiosks have been broken for at least six months. I was so excited when we got a theater so nearby. It's sad to see how a lack of basic maintenance has impacted this theater. Maybe Cinemark will take it over?
Been there a thousand times it had gotten alot worse. The seats looked terrible. Dirty place over all I would say.
Yesterday first time ever going to this movie theater. Went to see the new evil dead. Horrible experience. First off you walk in no clear instructions to were to buy the tickets. They have a security guard that looks like he part of a swat team. The chairs are wore out cracked need to be replaced. O half way through top flight security came in flashing his light everywhere. Big distraction. People was ever rude. Needless to say I will never go back there. There to many other way nicer movie theater out there.
Theatre dirty, staff rude, Seats look like they stole them from the curb on garbage day, projector light dim. Sound was decent. On the odd side absolutely nobody checked if we had a ticket pretty sure we could have wondered around and watched as many movies as we wanted.
Seats are broken and all the seats looks so bad and not feel to sit. Purchased pop corn it is too salty. I feel to give zero review. Doesn’t even feel to sit on the them. Felt waste of money
I only go on Tuesday & Wednesday for the discount tickets. Seats are worn, but Atilla comfortable. Concession prices are high, staff is friendly. Need better lighting in 5he parking lot.
