Yama Japanese Restaurant

What a find! This casual order & pay at the counter and then seat yourself gem should be added to your dining list. We ordered spicy tuna rolls, gyoza, shrimp udon and an eel bowl. Everything was fresh and tasty. Yum! I’m sorry we will only be in town overnight because other menu items caught my eye. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Me and my wife had a date night and hit this place up after a movie. Food was really good and the customer service was what you hope for! Highly recommend!Food: 5/5

Nothing short of killer food. I went with The Spicy Tuna Roll and Chicken Teriyaki. If you’re in Morgantown and you’re lucky enough to catch Yama before they run out of food for the day, eat here! Service ***** Food *****

What a fantastic little place! Was lucky enough to come through town when they were open. Had a fantastic dinner for a *very* reasonable price. I got vegetable udon photo, my husband got yaki soba, and we shared an order of veg gyōza. YUM.Food: 5/5

What a great little restaurant! The food is incredibly well done with meticulous attention to detail and flavor combinations at a very affordable price. Every positive review or kind word spoken about this restaurant pales in comparison to the reality. Like, I wish there was a 6th star. I've never wanted to rate a restaurant higher than Yama. Take that however you want, but I can tell you that I get to travel throughout WV and nationally for work so I've been to a restaurant or two. Also, my credentials: I'm a discerning fat guy. We went here when on the road for work. When we were walking out, my supervisor said, "Those people were so nice. Like, I feel like we should send them a Christmas card or something." It wasn't Christmas. I left the restaurant feeling so good. I felt good on every aspect--down to my soul. Yama hits ALL the notes in just the right way.

Good Japanese home cooking. Small, often busy place. Friendly owners, staff, and patrons! I make a point to eat here at least every week! Check their Facebook page for hours--they change.

I have been driving past this place for years and finally gave it a shot and I’m so glad I did. If you want to try authentic Japanese cuisine, this is the place to do it. I tried the spicy tuna sushi roll, the shrimp dumplings, and the udon noodles. It was all delicious. If you like spice, add the red pepper on the table to your noodles. I can’t wait to come back and try other things!

I have consistently been impressed by the quality of the food and service. The noodles are always cooked to perfection and the broth is full of depth and flavor. Yama has truly brought a piece of Japan to our college town. The staff are also incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like a warm embrace. If you're a fan of authentic Japanese cuisine, this is the place to go. I give it a resounding five stars
