My kids have been to camp Benson for one summer. This summer will be their second year going. They absolutely loved being there. They had a week full of fun and outdoors.  They get to make new friends and all around have a ton of fun. The staff is so helpful and friendly it makes leaving your kids a bit easier. We look forward to this summer when they get to go and can't see what the week brings them.

I can’t say enough about this place! My 7 year old daughter had a wonderful experience at Camp Benson last summer and can’t wait to go back! She still talks about what a great time she had, 6 months later! Such a positive atmosphere for kids to gain independence and confidence, while enjoying the great outdoors. The counselors are very caring and the director is great- it is easy to tell that they all love their jobs. I wish I had had the opportunity to experience a camp like this as a child, but thankful that it is offered for my daughters to enjoy!

Our 10-year-old daughter has been attending Camp Benson for the past two summers, and she has loved her experiences there!  Last year she asked to go for 2 weeks, and this upcoming summer she will attend for 2 weeks as well.  Great facility, awesome staff, and a wonderful way to have your kiddos connect with the outdoors!

Bummed about our experience. Not all of the activities were available to all kids. Some went tubing while others were told they couldn't go because of staffing. Kids had to select between water and art and they were stuck with that choice the whole week. Kids flushed the toilets as an activity. Food was just ok.

Our family loves Camp Benson! Both of our children have attended Summer Camp for many years - first as campers and now as members of the Staff Development Program. They are learning life and leadership skills which will take them far in life. I can’t say enough about the Camp Director and Staff which make this camp such a special place for the children.

My children have been going to camp Benson for the last 3 years. They have enjoyed all the different activities that they been able to do especially the the ropes course, Survival, and the water programs. They also enjoy going to the pool every day. We look forward to going to camp this year for their teen program.

One of the BEST Summer Camps around! My daughter tried a couple overnight camps before we stumbled upon Camp Benson. This camp we found to be the most organized with the best communication plus my daughter LOVES it here. She has been back 3 years in a row and will be going again this summer. It's a bit of a drive for us at 2+ hours but when you find a summer camp that is run so well you keep going back. Keep up the great work Camp Benson!

Both my son and my daughter have attended Camp Benson.  Both for over five years.  They have created friendships that they would have otherwise not have been formed.  They have had opportunities that would have otherwise been inaccessible.  The camp is also income flexible.  Thank goodness, because otherwise I would not have been able to afford to send them to this awesome place.  Camp Benson has leadership opportunities that grow with your child.  If they enter the staff development program, they not only learn life skills but also earn extra time at the camp!!  I recommend this camp for everyone.  And if you don't think you can afford it please contact them and they will help you figure out how to!  Definitely a must for any child!

My son has been going here for four years.  Started out as a camper and is now a junior counselor.  We initially were looking for something that would allow him to "disconnect" for a bit, and Camp Benson fits this perfectly.  The staff, the counselors, and "Badger", the director, have all been great.  Accommodations are nicer than I thought they would be - all cabins have A/C, mess hall is nice, food is decent and the activities keep the kids entertained and engaged.  Location is just outside of Mount Carroll and the back of the property goes along Carroll Creek, so water activities can be done there.  My son would not keep coming back if he was not enjoying it.  All in all, highly recommended.

My son loves going to summer camp at Camp Benson! He really it was both of us was nervous the first year, but was asking to go again when I picked him up at the end of the week. He has met new friends, tried new activities, and stepped out of his comfort zone. He is looking forward to his 3rd year this summer!
