Yogi Berra Stadium

Description

Yogi Berra Stadium is a baseball stadium in Little Falls, New Jersey, US, on the campus of Montclair State University. The stadium is home to the New Jersey Jackals of the independent Can-Am League; the Montclair State Red Hawks baseball team, which competes in NCAA Division III; and the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, which adjoins the stadium on its first base side.HistoryYogi Berra Stadium has a capacity of 5,000 persons with permanent seating of 3,784 people and lawn seating which holds an additional 1,500. It is capable of holding overflow crowds with standing room and grass seating available in right field. These tickets are sold only in the event of an anticipated large crowd, such as on holidays or fireworks nights.Construction of the stadium was done in conjunction with another venue on the Montclair State campus. Floyd Hall, a resident of Montclair who was then serving as chief executive officer of Kmart, donated money to the university in order to build an ice arena, which is known as Floyd Hall Arena and is a multi-use facility that several of the area's high school hockey teams call home, and a new baseball stadium for Montclair State's team to replace their previous venue, Pittser Field. Around this time the Northeast League, an independent minor baseball league, was looking for a team to replace the Bangor Blue Ox, which had folded. Hall bought into the league shortly thereafter and founded the Jackals, who were promptly given use of the new stadium once it was able to open. It was decided to name the stadium after Hall of Fame New York Yankees catcher Yogi Berra, who called Montclair home during his playing days and managerial career with the Yankees and their crosstown rivals, the New York Mets.

Excellent experience. Lovely ball park to watch a game. Reasonably priced, excellent food at concession stands. Alchohol is sold here. Ample parking. Security officers both outside and inside stadium. Multiple Birthday parties were happening while we were there. Highly recommend. Jackels memorabilia also sold there. Would highly recommend and will be returning!
Great place to watch a baseball game. Small stadium so all seats are good. Reasonable prices at the concession stand. Good for a family outing.
Went for a game here after visiting more than 10 years ago! No frills park that was experiencing staffing issues. Store wasn't open until late in the game, long lines at concession stands, etc. That being said the people who were there were so nice you didn't mind waiting. And I got a rare treat, a hot dog with chili & cheese & sauerkraut! It was a bobblehead giveaway night featuring Brooks Carey, longtime manager, celebrating their 2019 Can-Am championship. I do hope to be back sooner!
Went for a cricket inauguration event . Loved the ground . Lots of space .. lots of seats.. good to see cricket being played here .. parking was crazy ! The ground doesn’t have a parking spot and there are parking outside , but no clear indication if it was the ground parking or the hotel/university parking. I did t want to get charged for illegal parking. I hence had to drive a few minutes to get to a closed parking garage . No machines here . Had to pay online using a PayByPhone app. Took me 30 mins end to end for parking . Food was expensive inside : tasted ok. Not that good . Make sure you eat outside before coming to the ground . Overall it was a good experience for the event , but parking/food wasn’t that good..
The stadium is nice. The fans...eeeehhhh. my first time here. The stadium is in the Montclair University complex and the students parents should be worried. The crowd was more than obnoxious. Jackals were playing well and it was a fantastic game until the bottom of the 6th when a fan or fans threw beer into the visitors dugout. Did I mention it's dollar beer night and they are running out in the 5th? A fight ensued and both teams entered the stands to fight with or break up the fight that followed the drunken assault. Nice stadium but I'll have to rethink coming here if I'm looking to see a baseball game Maybe the crowd take the Jackals theme too far. Sad because it seemed nice until the crowd turned ugly and obnoxious. Update: everything still holds true. Especially the fans. Drunk and stupid is the best description. Not some place to bring the family, kids, and if the guys behind me are any indication, Id be nervous bringing a pet. The stadium needs a little help. Field is a bit rough.
Generally, a very nice venue with friendly, knowledgeable people. But, Thursdays are $1 beer nights, so a number of highly enibriated fans were out of control. Otherwise, a pleasant evening.
Food was solid, everyone is nice and we caught a foul ball. Good times.
Place is a dump. 40 minutes to get in to stadium, 1hr concession lines, now we know why Jackels are leaving! Further, minor league baseball is suppose to be a great experience. There were kids everywhere, fan appreciation day, these independent league players didn’t interact with the kids, toss a ball to them or really any sign of emotion from them. They looked underpaid and over worked. Don’t need to go back! Especially if in Patterson!
It was excellent. My brother's band played there. My nephew's the general manager of the team. It's just a great time. For those you. Never been there it's a good time., that's my brother on the drums he's incredible and then at the end of the game they have fireworks. What a night.
All seats are great, great place to bring the family and not break the bank!
