The National Bottle Museum preserves the history of America's first major industry, glass bottle manufacturing.
NBM preserves the history of glass bottle manufacturing with an emphasis on the handmade era. All bottles were mouth blown until the Automatic Bottle Machine was patented by Michael Owens in 1903. Each factory produced millions of bottles using blow pipes, molds, hand tools, and lung-power, making it the first real mass-producing industry in the United States, predating the founding of the nation.
