The principal cares more about publicity and the valedictorian than getting to know her students. Monica Lewis is horrible. If anything, bullied a few children my child was one of them but also told me of others that were getting no guidance from her. Some of the teachers are great and times are tough so I get staying but wow. A lot of the kids are crazy disrespectful. Leave trash everywhere, destroy books, steal, destroy bathrooms. It's sad. Poor excuse of a school. Took my child out.
Pulled my daughter out of this school after 4 days and put her in catholic school, and we will happily pay for her to go to school forever. It’s night and day, she went from being talked down to, sad, crying all the time, fearful of her teacher and soooo unhappy to being excited for school, no tears, happy to see her new teachers and thriving beautifully! Great, engaged teachers make a difference! Maybe this school is for you, but it definitely was not good enough for our princess! Have you seen Matilda? This school is just like the one Ms. Trunchbull ran, seriously!
Had a grateful opportunity to place my daughter in this school however, I give the school 3 stars for the lack of curriculum activities after school offered for intermediate students. Staff is really nice - however cannot say if my daughters teacher truly understands what it is like to work with a community. Not empathetic towards personal issues going on at home. Seems more like a nuisance for her to teach. However the other teachers seem more on board with the experience of teaching.
I honestly love the school for the most part but I cant stand the fact that kids aren’t welcoming to other kids but the teachers are amazing but certain students make it hard to learn when they distract the entire class with outbursts.
Clearly, individuals don't understand the definition of a review pertaining to the school and not what occurs around it. Granted, the parking situation is horrendous, however, doesn't impact the quality of the school and the teachers in it. My daughter is going on her third year with YMA and couldn't be more proud of the independent and eager to learn student she is and strives to be. Her teacher is the perfect fit for her and we will be sad to move on from her after 3rd grade. The area is great and I feel safe with my daughter going to school over here as per the other areas of Yonkers. I do wish there wasn't so much bussing from other areas but that is a battle that will not be won.
It was good, have most of my time before I gone to this school was going on the pool, then allowed to be educated there, gotta see all the best that were in the school. Large, wide not that LARGE lunchroom, and fine teachers that were suitable for the time. And, glad to see alot of things.
Small setting, wonderful teachers! My child has learned a lot from 95% of her teachers. There's always one or two teachers who don't bother to teach well, but that happens everywhere. The only complain I have is that the school, being small, prioritizes the elementary school level and neglects the upper grades, and the fact that it doesn't offer many extracurricular activities. Overall, compared to other public schools in Yonkers, I think it's the # 1. Some kids who are angry with their grades gave it one star here. They aren't doing well because they don't want to do their part. Just get a grip and study, as you're supposed to do.
I will like to thanks Mrs Elsie school secretary for your great service always polite, very helpful god bless you!! Zoeliz mom, also her teachers from last year and this year . Dr small wood and her presente teacher;miss Jacob. My daughter is in first grade she can read and write. Very responsible. Very happy with her progress
some of the teachers there are horrible Ms.Arno but It’s probably due to the fact that they can’t afford anything for there students. Administration has nothing better to do but insult the students and get there parents in if they stand up at lunch to throw out there garbage without telling teachers
I really remember going to this school when I was younger and I loved it but from my high school that I went to it was very different from high school I mean I went to this school from 2rd to 8th grade and when I left I was devastated at but then I grew up may the school keeps on thriving and never give up.
