Family Owned Since 1936
Charles Zagara left his native Sicily, arriving in Cleveland, in 1912. Opening his own grocery store on Kinsman Avenue in 1936, he was later joined by his son, Frank.
The store changed locations a few times in the ensuing years, ultimately ending up on Lee Road in Cleveland Heights. Frank was joined by sons, John and Charles.
Despite multiple challenges from competitors, the Zagara Family prospered as one of the Cleveland area's last independent, family owned grocers by offering outstanding customer service and value.
With backward glance to history and eyes firmly on the future, the Zagara Family now makes way for Zagara's Marketplace, a state-of-the-art grocery store on Lee Road near Cain Park.
Zagara's Marketplace. Still owned by the Zagara Family. Where you'll always find the owner in the aisles. Since 1936
