Came here today because the month of Aug had free events so I wanted to check out this zoo in Springfield. A really nice park with a zoo, which was okay. Would I have paid the 12 dollars to enter the zoo on a normal day probably not. You will need to pay to enter the park 3 dollars for residents and 5 for non residents which I didn't mind paying. Spent some time in the zoo checking out the exhibits. After we drove around this beautiful park.
Very beautiful park ...there are lots of areas for all sorts of different outings. Would be great for family gatherings.. the zoo is also nice. The only complaint I have is the restroom area. They are completely unsanitary , your children could not use this restroom alone , it is filthier than a prison bathroom, I was shocked and disgusted..not even soap for use. Everything else was great.
One of my favorite small zoos! One of my favorite things about Forest Park Zoo is their signage, which explains their work in wildlife rescue and conversation and even gives you the backstory and names! on some of the animals that call the zoo home. It helps visitors engage and stay connected with the animals, which helps boost interests in wildlife conservation! You can purchase a feed cone at the entrance, and feed any of the hooved animals with the feed or sugar cone. Highly recommend meeting Max - a dromedary camel and an absolute gentle giant. The walking path has no diversions and is easy to follow. While visiting the zoo, we were able to chat with some of the keepers who were preparing to care for one of the baby camels at the zoo. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. Parking was a little confusing. I would recommend entering from Main Greeting Road $3-5 parking and following the signs for the zoo, traveling on North Greeting Road. If you're using a GPS, I would use the nearby F-Lot as your destination to find the right park entrance. There is some parking right in front of the zoo and usually plenty of parking in F-Lot. As for the bathroom, the only available facility for visitors is the park bathroom a few steps from the zoo entrance. It was clean and well maintained.
Second year to go to brew at the Zoo, so much fun, you pet and feed the animals and drink beer for a couple of hours, place is really nice, doesn't feel that you're within the Springfield city, I do recommend visit the Zoo!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$31+
Small, but diverse and very relaxed. I was surprised at how much enrichment they had available for the animals, they seem well taken care of!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
The Forest Park zoo is FREE. It is a great place to walk around. The animals are all great. It was hot when I went and a lot of the animals were inside, except the ones that thrive in the heat. Didn't mind, because that was a sign the animals are cared for. If your hot, the penguin exhibit is great and cool.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Awesome small zoo! My 18mo old had an immensely good time. The staff is polite and helpful. I would highly recommend this zoo as a great destination for a couple hours. There us also a playground right outside the entrance.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
There aren't as many animals as there used to be. Still a nice place to go with family, a little crowded in the center sometimes so try and go around it if you don't like being stuck in one area. The gift shop was incredibly limited but at least there was something there for me. If you haven't been before, it's worth a go. If you have been before, I'd find something else to do instead.
My 3 year old grandson and 17 year old daughter both equally love this zoo! We had a great time. Been here many times. Clean and animals look well taken care of. Volunteers can't really answer questions about the animals. Could use more knowledgeable staff floating around.
The zoo and enclosures were overall pretty nice. There were many exhibits that had missing animals. You have to pay $5 per vehicle to enter the park. The Zoo charges $6 for kids, $12 for adults and you can buy a cone filled with grain to feed some of the animals 2 for $5. The bathrooms had zero toilet paper and no soap. Unfortunate as there were bus loads of school children and teachers. It was not a good situation. I did call the Parks office, they said they would report it, but by then hundreds of kids had to use the facilities without proper sanitary conditions. The playground needs to be upgraded, many safety issues. It’s located right before you enter the Zoo, so small kids were fixated on the playground instead of being interested in the animals. There were no Zoo staff to talk about the animals or point out interesting facts. We did see staff members cleaning and feeding, however it would have been an educational activity to have someone knowledgeable about the animals speak to the children. The lack of toilet paper and soap in the bathrooms was unacceptable. I hope this will be monitored in the future, as it’s not pleasant to use the facilities without the basic toilet paper and soap.
