ZOOZ Fitness creates customized fitness and wellness programs for individuals with physical, cognitive, and/or sensory disabilities.
ZOOZ Fitness is an exercise company that creates adaptive, inclusive, and active workout routines designed for people with special needs.
These routines are individually tailored to each client in order to maximize adherence, safety, and enjoyment.
Each fitness session includes cardiovascular, strength, endurance, balance and/or flexibility training.
Fear, anxiety, lack of an adaptive spaces or knowledge are a few barriers that stop people with special needs from working out. ZOOZ Fitness removes those barriers in hopes of minimizing inactivity and sedentary lifestyle choices. ZOOZ Fitness workouts incorporate state of the art equipment such as agility ladders, medicine balls, resistance bands, balance boards, sand bags, kettle balls, and so much more. Sometimes traditional exercise methods and routines do not work and can decrease desire and motivation to continue exercising.
ZOOZ Fitness hopes to change the way exercise is thought of and make adaptive and fun workout routines available to the special needs community.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Jake Weiner has been working with young adults with learning, emotional, developmental disabilities and other special needs for over 6 years in various settings such as adult vocational day programs, religious schools, 1:1 respite, non-profits, and summer camps.
Jake has also been active with sports and fitness throughout his entire life playing a variety of sports, both individual and team, and being an avid gym goer. Jake’s love of sports and fitness started at a very young age when his father started teaching him and his 2 brothers Judo, a Japanese martial art. Growing up Jake was a competitive Judo player competing in the United States Junior Nationals, California State Games and many local tournaments. He obtained his Black Belt in Judo at the age of 17 and is a certified instructor in the martial art of Judo. Jake started ZOOZ Fitness out of a need to create exercise opportunities for those individuals needing that extra push or support.
Jake graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in marketing. Jake is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (ACSM/NCHCPD) with a specialization in special populations. Jake is CPR/AED certified and is a Certified Black Belt Instructor in the martial art of Judo.
We empower individuals with developmental and other disabilities to become more physically active and live a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
