Cultural Café is a vocational training project aiming to create jobs for the Visually Impaired People (VIP). It is powered by JBVC (Joy Beyond Vision Community), a Christian non-profit organization that serves the blind and visually impaired people by supporting them in their journey to overcome visual impairment and live a fulfilling life with dignity.
The Cultural Café is operated by Visually Impaired and will be located at the "105 Gibson Centre" (105 Gibson Drive, Markham, ON, Canada).
Other objectives of this project include:
- To provide hands-on experience for the VIPs in management, supervisory, counter front and other front line work
- To provide an opportunity for VIPs to interact and integrate with sighted volunteers
- To help VIPs rebuild their self-worth, self-confidence and self-esteem that is devaluated by their disabilities
- To raise publicity and community awareness of the work potential of the VIPs. (Ultimately, we hope that VIPs who currently live in segregation will be encouraged to come forward and rejoin life in the mainstream).
- To set a work model and prove to the community that barriers to work can be overcome by training and encouragement to the VIPS.
- To cultivate cultural dialogue between ethnicities
- To serve as a platform to make friends and exchange ideas

樂明視障團(Joy Beyond Vision Community - JBVC) 是一個非牟利機構,目的是要服務和幫助視障人士逆境自強，過著有尊嚴的生活。
樂明團其中的一個職業培訓計劃，我們將經營一間咖啡室，名為"文化咖啡室" (Cultural Café)，位於萬錦市 105 Gibson Dr. 的 Gibson 中心 ,預計將於今年十二月開張營業。
我們希望藉著這咖啡室幫助視障人士於：
- 提供視障人士職業培訓，食物調製，客戶服務和業務管理經驗;
- 培立一個互助接納的工作和學習環境，使有視障的員工和視力正常的義工可以協同工作;
- 增加社區人士對視障人士的技能和工作潛力的認同;
- 邀請，鼓勵和支持那些自我封閉，與社區隔離的視障入士出來，重新投入社區人群中;
- 以行動讓雇主們認識到視障員工能對他們的商店有貢獻，障礙是可以克服的;
- 促進不同種族之間的溝通與文化交流;
- 作為建立友誼和交流意見的平台。
