This place has very authentic Japanese taste food. But the texture of the pasta/fries/crepe were all pretty horrible. They are mostly soggy, watery, or tastes night overnight food I heat up with the microwave. Buta Shabu salad: tastes like a very basic salad I can make with supermarket sauce. Pork sliders: teriyaki pork in crispy rice buns. The texture is a bit interesting. But the tastes is similar to food court teriyaki. Nori pasta: the ikura is the magic in this dish. It tastes so good with the seaweed sauce! But the pasta is watery. Ragu bolognese: tastes very mediocre Mentaiko mayo fries, sauce is nice, the fried are soggy Unagi pasta: the hint of teriyaki sauce sweetness tastes good with the pasta sauce. But the pasta was a weird texture too. Mentaiko pasta: the sauce tastes good but the pasta had a weird and sticky texture. okonomiyaki burger: it's basically a burger with soggy buns. Bad idea. And the patty was pretty tasteless. Matcha crepe: the combination of ice cream, red bean paste and crepe was very nice. But the texture of the crepe was pretty bad. It was borderline soggy
Simple atmosphere with a fair amount of seating. The waiters can seem frazzled at times when the place is full but very respectful and friendly otherwise. The pricing is fair as its unique and also very flavourful to the asian/italian mix. Would highly recommend the japanese curry poutine. The fries come in two different sizing...the large is a full plate and the small is still a good amount casserole dish fill. The burger tasted similar to a big mac which is a good thing. Pasta that I would recommend is the mushroom based one. The nori one is also delicious and comparable to the asian childhood of drinking homemade "seaweed soup".
Started with both the Japanese poutine and okinomayaki fries for our group. The Japanese-flavours were a welcomed surprise and personally liked how crunchy the fries were! Very much enjoyed my roe pasta with squid. Cooked al dente which is just the way I like it.
If your focus is on delicious food that you can't get just anywhere, then this place would definitely be worth it. If you're looking for a good balance of service, food, atmosphere, then you'd be disappointed. The food here is great. It's the only restaurant in Toronto and GTA that I know of that has Japanese pasta. But that's not the reason why I like the food. It's actually delicious. I almost always get the Shrimp Okinomayaki, and it's always perfectly cooked: the pasta, the shrimp, the sauce. Their fries are also worth a try. The portions are, by no means, supersized, but for the average eater, it's filling enough. The prices are reasonable, with everything $15-$20. The service is friendly, but they are not attentive because they seem understaffed. They are almost always too busy, so it's sometimes hard to get the staff's attention. The kitchen seems to make random dishes at random times for random tables. It's almost like a moody talented artist. Many times I've noticed that tables who ordered after others would get their food first. And patrons at the same table would be eating at different times. This place is worth at least one try.
Delicious Japanese fusion fare. Been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The curry poutine is still my favorite! The pastas are always perfect too. Usually there's specials to choose from as well. Cute and cozy space. Staff are always so friendly. Highly recommended a visit!
One of the places to come for lunch in JTown! They're a pasta place with a Japanese flair. Here they have the salmon vodka pasta, shrimp okonomiyaki pasta my personal favourite and a pork belly udon. They have been closed for renovations for about half a year. Although the interior hasn't changed too much many people were wondering why they were closed for so long. The prices do tend to be on the pricier side for lunch $12-$17/person before tax and tips. The pastas come with salad and their in house dressing sauce is always delicious. All the pastas also come with a slice of garlic bread as well. It's a great place to come for a meal or a date. A couple of things tho, it seems like their service got a slower as it shows about half an hour for a table to get their food.
Always good, service was friendly, even with language barrier. Chicken curry with soft poached egg and Shiso bacon vongole was delicious. Also had thr black sesame latte and Tiramisu cake, these were mediocre though.
Portion sizes are pretty small for the price. The pasta and fries here are very tasty but ever since the renovations they've gotten stingy on the portions. The salad here has a really good dressing and now you can barely taste it after the first few bites of the salad because of how much they skimp out in it now. Service here is pretty mediocre as well and the waiters can be quite absent minded to the point where flagging one down is a struggle. Rating adjusted as I recently went with a party of 7 during lunch and they didn't even try to seat us with a half empty restaurant. This place has truly become awful in service. That'll be the last time I come here and I'll never recommend anyone here.
Interesting place to try, but loses its value the more you go, as it is a little on the pricier side for what you actually get. Pastas can be a hit or miss, but worth trying. The fries are always the most tempting, and are usually pretty good. The cake from next door is definitely a must have - green tea red bean cake is something my family and I always crave. Definitely worth checking out at least once, and again if it suits your flavour.
Finally tried this Japanese/Italian fusion restaurant after years of wanting to go here. Unfortunately, I wasn’t too impressed with anything I ate. Looking at reviews online after, a lot of people said it used to be better. Service was super slow and food was just average. Probably wouldn’t go back... although I’d consider it if they bring back the uni pasta.
