Let me tell you. Regardless of occasion or orientation, this is a absolutely great establishment. You won’t find a more welcoming staff, a better patio or more perfect fries than at the 168 York Street Cafe.
Dive bar feel basement entrance without the dive bar character or prices. I'm not sure the last time I had a drink as weak as the one served me
My wife and I , lesbian couples , was treated very poorly at this establishment. From the moment I walked in this place it was a disaster. I paid for “ vip seating” .. $150 ! And there was no seats available, went to the bar .. no service. Completely ignored. And when another customer suggest to the bartender to serve us first, the bartender got rude with my wife. Uncalled for. We walked right out and lost 150. I’ve never been mistreated by my own community before. Very disappointing. I can’t wait for this place to be out of business. As someone who owns their own business, customer service is always first. Great people better, or don’t have a business. Be better. Be kinder. Be respectful. You NEVER know who you’re serving!
Love this place! Very chill vibes, easy to meet and chat with people. Great outdoor space in the back. The food is good and beer selection is decent.
I don't feel that this bar is open to all members of the LGBTQ community. I recently visited with my fiance and was ignored by the bartender and given many dirty looks from male gay customers. I've yet to find lesbian bar in New Haven and thought that York Street Cafe would at least be a safe place to quietly get a beer with my fiance among other queers. Instead I felt shamed and ostracized for being a woman. Maybe they assumed I was straight. It's misogyny either way you look at it.
The funny part is when i got there for brunch cuz A friend of mine recommend the place to me and i did know it was a gay bar till i looked around and already ordered the food...Lol awkward!! he made me go there as a laugh for his amusement... im just saying to him paying back is a B Nevertheless,Was a good food!
We’ve only had their Sunday brunch, but the food was plentiful and reasonably priced. We enjoyed all the different menu items we tried and the staff is very friendly.
Great place for Sunday brunch! Mimosa pitchers for $12! Lots of food for reasonable prices! Check it out!
A great place to socialize. Friendly bartenders and a down to earth crowd. The prices are fair and reasonable and the atmosphere is pleasant.
