Pho was phuntastic! Will have to come here again one day! Definitely a quality dish done right and was fitting for the 50F degree weather!
Very nice Vietnamese Pho here with many options. Brilliant venue at affordable prices. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Delicious food, alternative place and... GLUTEN FREE!! 4corners is a lovely small restaurant with a mix of food cultures. Brunch, lunch and dinner are all delicious and in big quantities, just what you need after a long day in Beijing. I really loved the small oasis in busy Beijing. And also my non-celiac friends loved the food;-. They also have quiz night, spoken word and other activities.
Hands down the best pho in Beijing! Very popular among foreigners, especially English-speakers, no wonder most of the staff speak good English. They have live music, storytelling, and more so don't forget to check their calendar
Away from the main walking path around Houhai lake. At lunch, there were no other patrons; just me. The manager at the door recommended the Vietnamese bánh mì sandwich. There's a good selection of different Vietnamese offerings. The menu is in English, but no pictures. The food is great. It's a bar setting, and it's laid out well. The back room has a stage and more seating. The staff speaks English. Around 1:30p, the staff get together for their own lunch. So it feels a bit awkward to call the server away from their own lunch to attend to you.
Finally a place that serves legit pho in China! I'll get to that in just a bit. We visited 4Corners twice last weekend; first for dinner/drinks and the next day again for a late lunch. That particular night the place was packed because there was a live band playing - pop song covers with a swing twist; pretty interesting! - so we had to wait a bit for a table. We sat outside in their lovely courtyard, where the tree branches open just enough to see the sky - this is Beijing, don't expect to see stars. We ordered a chicken curry dish - I ordered it with noodles and my husband ordered it with rice; much better with rice!. We also ordered the spicy wings; they were good, but we've had better. The next day he ordered the Namburger - he said it was okay - and I had the pho with flank steak, which we both agreed was ON POINT. Drinks are plentiful and decently priced - some of the beers may or may not be cold enough - and they have some beers on tap from a local brewery which are pretty good. A great place to hang out with friends and mingle with the super diverse expat population in Beijing.
Wonderful food & bar in the Ya'er Hutong about 10 mins walk from Houhai Lake. Drinks and beer are nice and the food is tasty. Taste like real Vietnamese which wifey and I welcomed after 9 days of only having Chinese cuisine. Great staff and tasty food. Nice that they are open late because a lot of restaurants in Beijing close early and the walk there was nice and quite, good way to get away from all the masses of people at Houhai Lake and Beihei Park.
One of the most nice place an expat could go. The staff is friendly, the lightning/environment is nice, the food is good slightly expensive, lots of drink on the menu and friendly animals a dog and a lizard!. Good place to unwind, try the poutine ;
A really lay back area several restaurants and cute shops to visit. Several places to sit and have a drink watching the rickshaws going by. You can hire one for around 150 Quan. At first they ask for more but wait a little and the price will go down
Whilst the food is fantastic, I was confronted by the view of a large lizard/dragonlizard being held captive in a glass cage. I find this very disgusting and disappointing. Come on guys, give the animal its' life back!
