About

Farm style, country café, fresh, wholesome food, great place for the family - licensed

"Silo began in Australia in 2011 with artist Joost Bakker who proposed the idea of ‘not having a bin’… from that point Silo’s chef and owner has built the business up to being the world’s first zero-waste restaurant.Silo is a restaurant conceived from a desire to innovate the food industry whilst demonstrating respect: respect for the environment, respect for the way our food is generated and respect for the nourishment given to our bodies. This means we create everything from its whole form, cutting out food miles and over-processing, whilst preserving nutrients and the integrity of the ingredients in the process."

Excellent service and a brilliant menu. Silo was a fantastic restaurant, cleverly thought out with prompt and precise waitstaff who had thorough knowledge of the menu and all the items on it. We had the full Silo menu. It was impressively executed and timed very well. There was ample space to chat between courses and, by the end of the dinner, we left happy and full. I would highly recommend the restaurant. The ethos behind the food is very forward-thinking and pioneering. I think Hypha, in Cheshire, was possibly better overall in both its value for money and handling of the "Zero waste" concept. However, without comparing, Silo was a very special experience and I would love to visit again.
I’ve been wanting to come here for a long while and regretfully left the place disappointment and underwhelmed. The concept of zero waste had drew me in and I love the tiny details found in the decor e.g. the recycled plastic table tops. What I would improve is firstly your website, to make it clearer as to how your menu works, we came in not knowing there is only really two options where the short menu is only available until 7pm. The meal experience was greeted with great service but the food was quite a let down. They were very small in portion and confusing where with the three of us, some meals we had only one plate to share between the three of us and another, we had 2. When asked about this they mentioned it was curated this way, but this just made us think it was probably better worth your money to come and dine alone. If you aren’t familiar with the restaurant’s concept don’t bother thinking you’ll learn much from the experience either as we barely understood what we were having based off the rushed descriptions and menu projector. The wait times in between meals were also very long and with the small portions you’re almost as hungry as you first started when the next dish comes. They were however really accommodating with any allergies and preferences albeit some come at an extra cost of an already extravagant price point. The food itself were either really salty or more fat than actual meat, probably creating more plate waste there? Interesting one off experience that we would probably never come back to again.
A perfect dinner for 5. Silo is at the forefront of London hospitality. Every detail was fabulous: the design evocative, the service warm and relaxed, the food delicious and thought provoking, and the wine perfectly recommended. The leeks and the king oyster mushrooms were my favourites. Explosive flavours from the cuttlefish garum and mushroom, and such depth. Delicious, simple, beautiful. But every dish was elegant and told a story.
Silo is all about vegetables on steroids. They have mastered the skill of drawing out any vegetable's natural flavour and amplifying it. The mushroom dish was a stand out and we were mmm-ing the whole way through that course. The Siloaf ice cream sandwich is UNMISSABLE. Such a creative way of using waste from elements of the whole menu to make an outstanding dessert. We had the shortlist menu which just about filled us, although be warned that the plates are quite small. They can adapt their menus to be totally vegetarian. Best thing was the real knowledge the waiters had on the food. They described each dish confidently, presenting how each dish has been designed to produce a zero-waste menu. Didn't feel gimicky at all, just great food Vegetarian options: Menu is pretty much all veggie but can be adapted to be totally vegetarian.
Tasty, yes; refined and inventive, yes; but the standout is the service. An ensemble effort from the moment you walk in to the airy space, via the multiple service staff and sommelier… it’s an assured, friendly and effective combination that oozes “welcome”. I was intrigued by the zero-waste approach but the biggest impact as a diner is the inventiveness it spawns. The tastes and flavour combinations are a joy. In addition there’s a clear unifying purpose that gives the menu and team a real energy. Sitting at the bar is a must if dining solo or a party of two. Enjoy the activity in the open kitchen and fire/smoke pillar. Tables are very generously spaced and with the soft lighting, minimal/skandi design and high ceilings, it’s a restful antidote to crushed west end dining. Note that plates are served in sequence and so you’ll end up sharing if dining together. This allows you to taste more and the waiters are helpful matching tastes and appetites to choices. They have an ‘everything on the menu’ option for about £65 and that way you get everything in nearly full size. It’s a hearty and lengthy meal but not too much. If you’re hungry on arrival do the ‘everything’, but if you’re in a just one course mood then they’ll help you choose two or three things. I’m already looking forward to returning!
Immaculate food, drinks and service. Staff are incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. Food is out of this world, there's so many flavours that you will have never experienced before. Personal favourite was the quavers and the baked celeriac.Food: 5/5
Masters of flavour! We had an absolutely divine experience. I simply wonder why a "zero waste" restaurant like this one is not the norm. So creative, so tasty, with a meaningful impact, and definitely worth it. Highly recommend the place for a quiet evening or for a special occasion. Staff are really welcoming and take you through a journey with every dish. Loved it.
Absolutely delicious. Almost enough to make this committed carnivore consider adding more veg to their diet. Add some fantastic service on top and overall a wonderful lunch experience. Highly recommended.
The food was well presented and delicious and the staff were amazing and attentive. Great atmosphere overall, I’d highly recommend having a meal hereRecommended dishesQuavers, Asparagus Parmesan
To eat at the counter was like watching a good movie being directed. A concertated dance of perfectly timed movements to produce an avalanche of tastes. I could not recommend one dish. You have to try them all!
