Had breakfast there on the veranda - was awesome and the service was great even though they were very busy and as a vegan I even found something to eat - I had mushrooms, baked beans, fried tomato, spinach and was surprised with chakalaka which complimented everything well. Home made bread and very yummy vetkoek. All in all it was a wonderful experience

Just one word ... Excellent. Don't travel through JHB without visiting. Ideal for staying over, having breakfast & other meals. Also a spacious area for meat and eat. Enjoy real Melville/JHB hospitality.
Absolutely fantastic establishment. Tastefully decorated with old world charm. Comfortable beds and yummy breakfasts. Friendly staff who go the extra mile to ensure you have anything you might require. Ideally situated is the safest street in Melville with breathtaking views. Wonderful owners. We will most definitely visit this home away from home on our next visit to the City of Gold.
Definitely won't be the last time I stay at Agterplaas. I've stayed in many hotels and guesthouses due to business but this was by far the best. Mr Jannie du Toit and his team seen to my every need and made me a very comfortable guest. Thank you and keep up the great service. See you very soon!!!Rooms: 5/5
A nice cozy old style guesthouse with a spirit of the 40th of the 20th century. It is conveniently located in Melville district, close to a number of good restaurants. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. Good choice of dishes for breakfast and very nice, friendly staff. A good place to stay near the center of Johannesburg!
Need to stay here more, like the Old style look and wooden floors are ,Rooms: 5/5
Musician Jannie du Toit's establishment. Lovely breakfast, a must go to when in Melville. Excellent overnight stay.
Breakfast to die for; freshly.baked bread 4a.m. every morning, and Confectionery. Eggs cooked to perfection by the inimitable and special Badia and the attentive, home from home Lut! A must try is the Uitsmyter! Absolute value for money you can't beat, in an awesome venue/setting. And guaranteed to meet a multitude of South African musicians and artists of renown. An absolute must in Melville. You will not be disappointed. Hosted by the one and only Jannie du Toit & co.
