After a booking at another hotel in Braamfontein didn't work out, my colleagues and I arrived at Grand View's doorstep with the hope of finding rooms on a Sunday afternoon. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we were booked in in no time. Accommodation is very affordable. The rooms, and the guesthouse in general was very clean and neat. It should be noted that they only make cereal available for breakfast and that instantcoffee and tea is only available in the kitchen, and not in the rooms, nor did the rooms have fridges. For us it wasn't a problem really, as we just needed a place to sleep for a couple of nights. The area Brixtonfelt much quieter and safer than the other suburbs in the surrounding area. Lastly, the name is very fitting as the view of Sandton and surround areas are stunning from the guesthouse. If I ever need a place to stay in the area again, I will definitely return. Good value for money.
So the rooms and bathrooms were good sizes However built in such a way that they feel like saunas. Boiling hot n lack of aircon made the situation worse. Cleanliness in some of the rooms we had booked was very bad. Only room we enjoyed fully was the cottage airconed and with kitchen where we all eventually slept and left the other rooms empty
Host was very helpful and accommodating. When we had an issue with our room, she gave us another room and an additional few hours added on to our stay an no additional cost. Excellent customer service.Rooms: 4/5
A good place to rest at an affordable price. The exterior does need to be repainted. But overall not a bad place at all. When you go inside everything changes, it is a beautiful place to be.Rooms: 3/5
The place is nice and tidy but could do with exterior paint , it’s in a quite area . The staff cleans daily without fail, disappointed to see how raggedy their uniform is though, it’s quite bad . The breakfast is only cereal , and that really sucks . But it’s a pretty decent stay despite that .Rooms: 3/5
What a refreshing weekend we had, the place is very safe and clean, the stuff was so friendly, they juc make you feel like you at home. The rooms are so beautiful, clean and warm, I really can't fault anything and my partner loved the place aswell since it was a surprise birthday outing. My friends and I booked for 3 nights and ended sleeping for one night and requested a refund for the rest of the nights. This was due to the fact the place was falsely advertised and it is situated in a shady neighborhood. Also, we requested a cottage that stayed 3 people, we ended up getting 2 separate rooms; one downstairs and one upstairs we also shared a kitchen with everyone including staff members. There was no privacy, hence we had to request a refund. I wouldn't recommend anyone that wants to have fun and be free not to book at this accommodation.
Very disappointed didn't get the value for my money. I don't understand why the place says breakfast included when they only serve cereals. Secondly the room doesn't have basic things like fridge or kettle.Rooms: 3/5

I’m glad to see when an owner of a business gives back.. Considering what you pay, and what you get.. it’s absolutely value for money.. very very clean. Decor is lovely cozy.. The staff really keeps this place in good nick.. Diana and Magdeleen made me a nice breakfast, and they constantly on standby for my every need. Well done Grand view.. PS: was surprised to know 7de Laan was just down the road, always wondered if I’ll ever pass by it.. as I’m visiting from Cape Town so that’s off my subconscious bucket list.. and it’s only 4 min drive away with an Uber for only R31. lekker..
