Good way to dispose of your semi valuables and antiques. Auctions on a regular basis, but invoicing and settlement take very long.

An absolute wonderful past 36 months of buying art via Ashbeys Galleries / Auctioneers. Fantastic staff especially Bronwyn and always willing to provide great advice to anyone wanting to start their own small private collection. Being a "homesick" South African living 10 000km away it ALWAYS GREAT to have someone assist you with conditiin reports Etc. Indeed it not a cheap "hobby" however it is also possible to start with acquiring lesser known artists who have great potential in the future.

In response to the review by Devon Llywellyn concerning the "rude" staff at Ashbey's, I wish to totally contradict this! I have bought and sold numerous items at Ashbey's for the past 30+ years and I have never ever had anything but polite and helpful interaction with the staff as well as the owners. I also recently asked if I could test an electrical appliance and was politely told that unfortunately not because not long before then, they had tested an appliance for a customer which had not only caused their Distribution Board to trip out and cause extensive and costly damage to their computers but had lost a large amount of data as well. This is a perfectly acceptable reason and yes, anyone who buys an item on auction knows full well that they are sold "voetstoets". No doubt, the staff member was merely reminding him of this.

Valued late parents antiques as not having much value . Sold in UK for Rand value R840 000 . Don't be ripped off by so called "experts" in South Africa

Why do you have the most irritable bidding system .. total nightmare! Confusing.. never again.. you must be extremely lazy to do it in right way, like other Auctioneers do it.! On website is saying that auction closes at 19.00.. but finished hour later.. on one device show minutes on other device show different time in hours. Each item has one picture!? Not full description of the items.. etc.. No.. NEVER EVER!!!!! There is plenty other auctions around.. Bye

I am very disappointed and appalled by the way the staff treats customers at this auction house. I recently went to view items that were on auction at Ashbey’s Galleries accompanied by long time American friend, whom himself has supported the auction house for over 30+ years. My friend asked one of the staff members to test an electrical item that was on auction as he was not planning on bidding on a item that was not working. The said staff member made rude discriminatory comments towards my american friend by saying “he probably does not know what Voetstoots means”. In all my years within the service industry I have never seen such unprofessional behavior from staff members towards paying customers. This sort of behavior makes me question their standard of service!

Really interesting shop to check out they also auction antiques, there is a large variety of antiquities, definitely worth stopping by even if only to have a look around.

The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. This is an auction house with a high reputation. If you looking to auction special pieces of jewelry, this is the right place. Phone ahead for the next appraisal and auction date.
