There is a bad smell at the hotel like it's a sewerage kind of smell from the reception area. The receptionists are not friendly, hardly greet back but the security, cleaners, kitchen staff, waiters and maintenance staff are very welcoming and friendly. The conference room was always clean and made sure water is available. The food on Wednesday was off, which made me sick the whole dayrunny stomach and vomiting enjoyed their breakfast. The parking lot is just too small for vehicles, I drive a big car, so I had to be careful of not damaging my car. Overall I just enjoyed my time there withe people I was with and we created great memories Food & drinks: The food was great but their doesn't change much expect for Friday and their tots prices changes everyday.
I only visited for the day attending the workshop. Everyone is friedly from the gate entrace, reception, and general workers, and they made you feel home. Beaitiful designs and what made my day was the live music...beautiful I just wished I wasn't on a work visit me and my Gals could have jived our muscles out...
Spent last Saturday evening watching the UEFA Champions League final at Elevate Rooftop Bar & Premium Lounge. Located on the the 16th Floor of the The Reef Hotel. Lovely views over Johannesburg. Welcoming bar tend er and DJ. Had a really good evening in down town Joburg.
We had a fabulous party on the rooftop of the Reef - at Elevate. The service was great with friendly staff and the views from up there are exceptional.
I went to the rooftop bar very nice view...chilled vibes. Always ready and willing to go backService: 4/5
The Reef Hotel offers affordable stays in a reasonably safe area. The food was decent and the cocktails were well priced. The rooftop bar is a cool addition but not really a place for a quiet cocktail watching the sunset - more like a club. The staff were friendly although housekeeping had somehow run out of towels and our room wasn't ready when we checked in four hours after they said we could. The room itself was spacious and clean but there was always a faint smell of sewage outside our rooms. To no fault of the hotel, our floor had a bunch of noisy neighbours and the walls are thin. You have been warned... The buffet breakfast was a great addition and well worth the extra bit you paid for it. Rooms: Spacious and basic. No smart TVs which was disappointing as it meant that you were basically stuck with a few basic channels. We ended up not using it at all. The bath was wonderful but the shower sucked. The shelf was broken and the water temperature was all over the place, not to mention the head of the shower sprayed water all over the place. It wasn't great. Good views though and safe. They've got a generator onsite too, so loadshedding wasn't an issue. Nearby activities: Not much to do close-by and I wouldn't suggest walking anywhere without a guide or a large group of people. The nearest shops are a fair way away and while there's a McDs close, it was dodgy. Safety: We didn't feel safe driving around late at night although we did see a good few police cars around. I wouldn't walk this area. Secure parking in the hotel was good though and we never felt our safety was off in the hotel. Walkability: Don't. Food & drinks: The food was fairly good albeit a bit basic. The buffet is definitely the thing to go for as well as the cocktails. They pack a punch for a decent price, too.
Concerned Will I be allowed to check in if I have lost my original ID, but I have copies of my identification document? I was making copies and I might have lost my ID card at the Internet Cafe, and I am on the bus right now to Johannesburg. Rooms: 1/5

Had gone there for a meeting. So did not access the rooms, just the board room. Which was fine.
