The service was friendly and professional and we didn't wait too long to served. The two drawbacks: 1. The car we had wanted wasn't available and we had to wait 10 minutes for it to be available and 2. The actual process of renting out takes some time even though we did the booking online.
This branch is just awful. I have had them charge me for damage I didn't cause multiple times. I have even had them send me speeding tickets for a car six months after I rented it! I've attached a photo of the latest "damage" that they are charging me over R2500 for. I didn't even cause it, but because I didn't notice it on checkout and they did not check the car with me, they're claiming I caused it and need to pay I did not cause it. Stay far away from this branch - why pay extra to have them try to rob you blind afterwards? If you unfortunately do have to rent from them, photograph everything inside and out before you rent, and make someone check the car over with you. They absolutely will try to rob you if you don't.
I received a great service at Avis Cape Town airport. I was served by Shadley, he was fast, efficient and polite. There was a line up but they had 6 people at the counters and another 5 in the lots so everything went fast. Also Ronny was very nice and helped us put in the car seat.
Dishonest behaviour. Avoid! Twice in a row I have returned our hire car filled with fuel and twice in a row we have been charged what can only be described as a dishonest and stealth fee of over R70 as a refuelling levy for 1litre, yes just 1 litre of petrol that they invoice having to have put in the car. 1 litre, on both occasions, because the fuel tank is already full. If you do rent from this Avis check every time post return whether this debit suddenly appears on your bank account. Easy to miss as it is a small amount. When you query which I have done, with no questions asked the debit is reversed. AVIS - really? What is going on? You can’t be trusted. Just did a quick scan of other reviews and this refuelling charge for 1 to 2 litres of fuel is a common theme, regularly happens and imagine all the times we as customers don’t pick it up. AVIS this dishonesty needs investigation or is this company policy to boost revenues?
My booking was made and I spoke to the person at avis to include my preferred client number which was never done. Received first car and it was really dirty. Got second car and I had to clean the windscreen inside. After I left I plugged my garmin in and found that the ports don't work. As a regular user of Avis and a preferred client I am really disappointed with the state of the vehicle and the service at this branch.
Last month I collected the car in wynberg, it had a crack on the right rear taillight, few chips on the bumper and wasn't full tank , took pics before taking the car . I returned to one of the branches in airport industrial told the dispatcher about the damages it had before taking it in wynberg. When I got home I received email telling me investigation was done the car I will liable for the crack on the right rear taillight, so I sent all the pics I took before taking the car. Before taking any car from avis please take pictures and request inspection checklist
We were encountered by the most friendly person ever at a rent a car. It was quick and smooth, in 5 minutes we had the keys of the car.
Hired a car here today, the staff were super friendly to the point of a bit false, I know they try harder but it was a little over the top - on the flip side always nice to be treated nicely so well done guys! We got a nice vehicle but there was no one to check the vehicle with us before we left which is a little weird as how do they prove we didn’t damage the car when we return it! Was all a little loose

Be careful when you rent from AVIS in Cape Town. I have recently rented a car for 5 days.Before returning the car I have filled in the tank at the fuel station at the airport and only drove the car to AVIS to hand it back. I was surprised to find a charge for refueling and for 2 liters of petrol added to my bill. When I alerted their customers service to the fact that this was obviously a mistake, I got as a surprising reply: 'Kindly note that a refuelling fee is a fee that is charged by many suppliers for refuelling the rental car. This happens when the renter returns the car with less fuel in the tank than agreed in the rental agreement. Please the below proof of refuelling report and be advised that the fuel charges will remain.' So I have used 2 litres to travel 500 meters from the fuel station to the AVIS return station .....
