The rental car offices are placed out of the airport hall between the parkings. It is a 6 min walk from the arrivals hall. Budget and Avis are sharing the office. I picked the car on Saturday morning and the overall experience was good. No queues, staff was correct and effective. In less than 15 minutes I got the keys of the car. I can't find any issue to highlight. Info provided was clear. The car return experience was also good and in less than 5 minutes all done.
Everyone just stay WELL clear of these scammers! Do yourself a favour, pay a little extra and take your business elsewhere. Never ever in my life will I rent from Avis/Budget ever again. Be careful, they operate under AVIS so any complaints will be dealt via them and trust me, you will not win. They incorrectly charged me R20 000.00 for a polo i rented, it worked out to about R1250 a day which is the first issue. 2nd issue is that I had a flat tyre in George, called AVIS to sort it out, they were helpful and gave me a new car. I informed them that the car hadn't been fuelled and that I did not want to be charged for it. I was told it wouldn't be an issue given the situation. Well... they ended up charging me R1000.00 for fuel when the car had more than half a tank. These guys are scammers and will find a way to charge you extra and you will NOT get your money back. Disgusting service from these big companies.
STAY AWAY!! Unethical company!! I rented a car in KZN for 2 weeks and returned it. The man said all was fine as he checked it over and I handed him the keys. Next thing I get a bill for R550 for a valet. Nothing was mentioned to me about it and it's buried deep in the middle of a 6-page, fine-print contract. This goes against the CPA which demands that companies point out additional charges that are being agreed to. I would have signed that contract if the valet fee was R10 000. Who reads a 6-page contract of several thousand words?? I raised it and they said the charges stand. Sick of this corporate bullying - it's not even about the money.
Terrible rental car location; they are looking to cheat you wherever possible. We never used the car, returned it with only 20km from hotel to airport, and they charged us to refuel it even though they delivered it at 3/4 but claimed the tank was full. There were charges on my bill that they never explained… I let it go because I was in a rush to check my luggage but don’t put yourself in the same position.
Shameful - I arrived one hour early and asked if i need to wait untill 1600 for my collection time. "NO NO it's only an hour early you can have your car now" 2 weeks later they billed me for an extra day as they charged me an extra day for having the car 1 hour early, even though they said it was fine. SHAME on BUDGET Cape Town airport - no wonder your country is such a mess if that is how you treat people
Beware Budget. I returned a car to Cape Town and the returns employee who was checking for damage immediately went into a deep crouch on a certain side of the bonnet and had to look at it from 2 angles to try and confirm a slight blemish which was only visible in certain light and from a certain angle. All very suspicious especially as he had to call a colleague to confirm they could see something. Agreed when at a certain level and certain angle and certain light, there was a very very slight dip in the bonnet about the size of a token. It is impossible to photograph, we all tried. I contended that it was there when I picked up the car but I certainly didn't crouch down at said angle and height to try look along the bonnet, neither did the car park attendant. Beware - I suggest you do this as a check as they have refused to listen to me. Interesting info, I have it in writing, the car is checked when it leaves dispatch for parking on the lot but not checked in the lot or by the car park attendant. Easy to contend that it happened when it was parked which is why it is not on their record - but difficult to get Budget to acknowledge or even look into this. Don't use them.
Erroneously reviewed Budget. I don't see a delete option. I have no opinion good or bad about the company.
Please choose any other car service! We waited 2 and a half hours to collect a pre booked car! No discount no sorry no nothing! Other car services cost the same and lesser lines to stand in! Will never use this service again!
We rented in February 2019. Everything was good. We booked a car with 0 excess, so no upsells at the counter. We've got an almost new Corolla Quest as booked. They helped us with installing a child seat in a car. No problems by returning a car, no extra charges later. The only downside, there was a long queue and we had to wait outside for more than 40 minutes with a 6-month baby. No priority for people with infants, though we asked for it.
Rented a polo and got a citroen. But that was not the problem. We gave it back and everything was fine. The controler said everything is good. after a couple of weeks they charged my credit card with around 45 dollars for a scratch, which they didn'T describe at all. The car had dozens of scratches when I picked it up. From europe to africa the negotiation is so difficult that it isn't worth the 45 bucks. But in fact we were just tricked. Never again.
