My fiancé loves impromptu adventures and this past weekend he surprised me with a trip to Bass Lake Lodge. As we entered the lodge through the wooden gates we stepped into a different world. We were greeted by a flock of sheep walking nearby, you could definitely tell we were no longer in the city. Surrounded by beautiful and tranquil lakes we instantly felt at peace. We were welcomed by Karl who got us checked in and ensured we were comfortable. The staff were wonderful and catered to our every desire. We did a spot of fishing and my fiancé caught a bass! We then took out the paddle boats at sunset and wow oh wow, it was a sight to behold! The bar at the lodge is a great spot to meet other guests over a few games and scenic view over the lake. The lodge has their own in house chef, Spencers, whose food is amazing and the portions massive. We had the pulled pork and cheese burgers for lunch which hit the spot. For dinner I had the confeit chicken and my fiancé the pork belly which we devoured. To end the evening on a sweet note, I ordered the red velvet cheese cake which was of the perfect balance whilst my fiancé ordered the pop corn crème brûlée which he enjoyed very much. In sum - we had an amazing stay and would recommend this idyllic spot to anyone wanting a little escape from the craziness of the city.
Possibly one of the nicest places we have camped at. Stands are big and grassed. Well maintained and the most lovely ablutions that I have come across. There are Zebra and buck roaming freely. Had a great time!Location: 5/5
My goodness! Bass Lake County Lodge is 100% the best place to be for a quiet weekend getaway. My husband and my friends surprised me with a birthday party weekend @ Bass Lake County Lodge and I must admit that was the best birthday gift ever. From when you arrive at the Lodge till the last day at the Lodge, it's all smiles...If you're not a smiling person trust me by the time you leave you'll be infected with the great smiles received from the staff. You're greeted with warm smiles, great vibes and a genuinely happy manager, the owners of the establishment and every staff member. Your luggage is carried for you to your rooms and great conversations with the staff. The rooms are exquisite, comfortable beds and soft linen...just amazing. Great restaurant complemets to Sir Charles for excellent service The food... absolutely devine. Must try their seafood and the shanks. We'll set up bar area with a pool table and an efficient bar attendant Sir Gerald I'm definitely visiting again soon
Great for camping, fishing and relaxing with friends or family. Camping and cottages available too. Great food and tranquility sets the scene for a relaxing trip. Nice pool and play area for kids at the caravan park.Hotel highlightsGreat view, Romantic, Quiet, Kid-friendly
Very well organised camping ground with some grassy stands and some shady stands. Electricity, water tap and mobile braai stands. All stands are well marked, leveled and outlined. There are two dams for fishing with plenty of birds. The ablutions are kept clean throughout the day. They have a very strict no noise policy. We were on stand 21 and loved it. A nice view over one of the dams. There are trampolines and jungle gyms at the swimming pools. The shop sells basic stuff.
Great place! Very neat, lots of trees for shade, beautiful green grass and awesome swimming pools. Really enjoyed it. Will definately visit again.Rooms: 5/5
A wonderfull resort. The buildings and rooms are charming and the staff are friendly and helpfull. We were pampered the whole weekend. The restaurant is amazing and the menue is not extensive but caters for all tastes. I would travel the 30 kilometers from Pretoria to the resort just for a visit to the restaurant. Unfortunately the main business of the lodge is conferencing so the facilities are only available to the public over weekends. The resort also has an upmarket caravan park which has competstive mid week prices and a pensioner special. I have no hesitation in recomending the resort
Luxury accommodation lodge with superior chef cooked meals, spectacular views over flyfishing dams and the best bar in the country. Absolutely worth a visit.
From the reception to the fishing, the experience was fantastic. The top dam water is clear and it's easy to spot and catch bass. In the bottom dam, we mostly caught kurpers and only 2 bass. In total we caught plenty. Will definitely recommend the lodge to anyone interested. P.s. have some worms just in case.
Wonderful campsite with top class facilities. Quiet venue with lovely stands. Well worth a visit if you are looking for a camping spot not to far from the cityService: 5/5
