I am writing this review as a grade 6 parent for the year 2020. It was sad to see how the school gradually went downhill during the past years. The best description is that the value proposition offered no longer made sense compared to other private schools. This school is run as a business where the rest does not really matter. They have lost caring and nurturing towards the children. The fact that there are up to 27 children in a class demonstrates this point. When your child experiences a problem at school, be it being bullied or struggling with a subject, the school is very quick to direct you towards getting help from outside of the school. If you are hoping that the teachers are going to solve the problem, you are wrong. You will have to seek additional help from professionals and private tutors. The school often fails by showing favouritism towards particular children, at the cost of their peers. The number of good teachers has reduced to only a handful over the years. In my opinion, the only teachers that stood out in the grade 6 group were the Afrikaans and Maths teachers. I am not discounting the good work done by teachers in the past, however this review is based on my experience and perception at this point in time . Traffic in and out of the school is really a problem and drop off causes many morning delays. It is a serious problem during peak times, causing many hours of wasted time. The bottom line is that the school fails to treat the parents and children as valuable assets. The leadership structure is very hierarchical and old-fashioned, their attitude being compassionate and speaking down to people. This became clear with them offering no discount policy during the first 3 months of lock-down compared to other private schools who did so. In addition, they offered a “rebate” of a specified amount per child but instead of reducing the 2020 fee accordingly, they instead undertook to simply not put up their fees for the 2021 school year. This was followed by them refusing to at least benefit the children leaving the school at the end of 2020 by granting them the rebate in 2020.
