A family favorite for us - on Sundays they have a delicious lunch special. The staff is personable and friendly, although some are quicker to respond to your needs than others. Kid-friendliness: There is a nice play area, with someone keeping an eye on the kids. Parking: It forms part of a center with a Checkers, Woolies, ATMs, etc, so there is lots op parking, it's free, but open, there is no covered parking. Wheelchair accessibility: It is wheelchair accessible.
Quite average Steak House. Nice for a quick fill up but nothing special or fancy. Steak was a Little dry. Chips were unsalted. Liked the nacho starters though!
Only went for a take away. Staff were friendly and the restaurant looked very clean indeed. The food was good Parking: Lots of parking, gets busy near the end of the momth. Wheelchair accessibility: Didnt check out the wheelchair access or not.
The stuff is always friendly and has a quality service. I was amazed by them handling high volume of customers well with a small number of stuff present. Although the food did take a bit long to be prepare but it was still amazing how they could do it.
As far as Spurs go, this is an above average experience all-round. Food, service, facilities including play area all good and the owner is very involved which makes me feel like he's invested in my experience, every time I visit. To top it off, the view is something spectacular to witness. It shouldn't be taken for granted Big Bear Spur, that is! Vegetarian options: Spoilt for choice Kid-friendliness: As good as it gets Parking: Ample parking any time of day and most of the year Wheelchair accessibility: Fully accessible
I enjoyed my time there. Good place to have lunch with the kids. I believe they can do better with their chicken thou, it's only nice on the outside.Food: 4/5
As a family restaurant Big Bear Spur is great. We know the menu off by hand and we know what to get without even looking. But something changed. In the past the Buffalo wings were seriously crispy, almost like KFC. We used to drive from Nelspruit to White River to have these Buffalo Wings. The other Spurs don't make it like that. But now it seems they are not. Well let me tell you, they are missed.
Spur has a soya burger for children on their new menu but they first refused to sell it to me saying we have to make orders from the normal menu for my child. After showing them that there's a soya burger on their children's menu they accepted defeat. Next I was told there were no soya patties for the two burgers I ordered both for me and my son . I then requested they atleast try to get it next door at checkers since we drove so far avoiding the month end commotion at the Spur restaurants in Nelspruit. The manager then proceeded and got us the cheapest tasting curry vegetarian patties, they were so awful and not Fry's or better tasting. I don't understand why this particular spur always has a shortage on vegan/vegetarian options from their menu. Their mushroom sauce is also not consistent with the Spur recipe, sometimes they use mashed potatoes and I just don't undestand why such a difference.

We eat breakfast atleast 2 a month at spur hazyview or white river. Great service. Toast not always the best, but worth the trip
