We love this market especially on a Thursday night when it's much quieter than on Friday. The kids keep themselves busy at the Kids Zone where they find a huge jungle gym, slide and monkey bars and they can run around with the other kids playing in there. There is also a good variety of food vendors who offer anything from Asian, to burgers, pitas, samosas, sweet treats and other nice goodies. The book shop in the corner right next to the entrance has a great selection of books and you can even grab some for R10 only. Doggies are welcome too and you can have a great time with the entire family.
Wow what an amazing experience! The sense of community is remarkable. For those who don't know its an old aircraft hangar that serviced the mail seaplane that landed on the vlei. But now it is filled with the food of bubbly joy. You are going to bump shoulders with all and sundry on the long trestle-tables as you devour what you chose from the huge variety of food kiosks aligning the walls. Fancy Thai? Check. Vegan? Check. Vegan deserts? No problem. The list goes on. For those who are partial to a tipple you too are sorted. It could do with some ceiling-level ventilation to extract the smoke from the cooking and there was an absence of non-alcoholic options like juices, but I guess that is too do with demand. In any case if you are Muizenberg and not sure what to eat for dinner, go to the Blue Bird Garage. You are going to find what you want.
We absolutely loved it here! Good beer, good vibes, amazing food and great people! We ate at the Cheese stall and had provolone with grilled tomatoes on ciabatta bread and Haloumi cheese tacos, incredible, and their fresh pies. We had a margarita pizza from the pizza stall, cheese balls from another stall. As you can see, bring 2 stomachs. You're gonna need it.
It's a great place to meet people and taste varios kinds of meals in many cases from individual chefs and buy arts and crafts. There is a great vibe and people are friendly, despite the crowds and lack of parking. It is also appreciated that there is a fairly diverse and cosmopoliton group which frequents this venue. It's a bit disconcerting that animals are allowed in a food venue however cute they may be and at some of the food outlets, the wait can be quite long. It's a village centre
It was really a wonderful night! More of 10 different stands with super tasty proposals: hamburger-ribs-Japanese noodles-wrap-pizza-sushi-vegan pleats-kebab-bao-fried chicken, cakes… small shops with some clothes with a good local beer. If u are around Muizemberg this is an authentic must! Only on Thursday and Friday night from 4pm to 10 pm
It's actually embarrassing to think how long it took before we checked this place out! But.. there's a certain timing to discoveries that make it even more special. What we love so far. The foooooood: we've had a giant burger, Japanese fried chicken, and a variety of dumplings to date, all fantastic. We plan to work through all the stalls as the variety is impressive and delectable for the venue size! The drinks: there's specialized coffee, standard soft drinks, basic selection of alcohol products, great beer and cider on tap. Speakeasy cocktail bar is a great addition! The atmosphere: lively and eclectic, great mix of people of all ages etc. Had some interesting conversations! Children: lovely playground, and the kids seem to have a great time all round. The stalls: not really why we go there, it's limited but there's a few interesting vendors. We enjoy the salami! Overall: we love going there, catching up with each other, kicking off the weekend with some great vibes. The only drawback is a lack of parking, but since we catch a ride whenever we have some drinks, it's not a problem!
Pretty much the same as Earth Market that used to be close to Builder's. Variety of stalls very limited. Food mainly pub grub. I didn't see a pizza stall, could've been mistaken. Not trying to bash anyone trying to make an honest living. It just wasn't for me.
Fairly small and mostly only food and drinks. Very, very busy from 7.30 onwards so seating is in short supply. We had the Japanese chicken, unfortunately the gentleman putting the tubs together is also dealing with payments and doesn't disinfect or even just wipe his hands between handling cash and sprinkling seeds and garnish on food.
My favourite place to meet up with family and friends when I am out that way. The Japanese fried cauliflower and noodles are amazingly delicious , and the vegan cakes are devine too. Loads of stalls and even a book store
Very friendly and local market with lots of great food stalls!! Some lovely local products and hearty food.
