Very beautiful place to visit. The different colour houses were so unique that it just puts a smile on your face when you look at it. However, I suggest you visit here during early times of the day and not later than 3pm. During certain times, the area starts to become/feel dangerous.Visited onWeekday
This place has such a beautiful culture there are many poor people but the time i went there was not a lot but the kids there told me to be careful because my bag could get stolen they are so nice though : and did i miss something? i didnt buy any tickets at allVisited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Beautiful houses. The only issue is finding parking. The guys on the streets are there trying to rob people by telling them not to park somewhere and they show you parking spots so you can pay them afterwards.
Obviously, you have to go on a walking tour around the neighborhood. See the iconic houses up close, snap a few photos, and don’t forget to take a picture with the famous vintage blue Ford Cortina, parked there, AKA Mikki’s Ride. Learning cookery overseas is an unforgettable experience and a great way to not just get to know the culture, but also make new friends. Explore the Cape Malay cuisine and get to learn from the experts by taking a cooking class in Bo-Kaap, which could be easily booked through Airbnb Experiences. This is hands down one of the most fun Cape Town tours. Bo-Kaap boasts more than nine mosques, which make up one of the cornerstones of the community’s culture. The oldest mosque there is the Auwal Mosque in Dorp Street. Other iconic mosques include Mosque Shafee and Boorhaanol Mosque. The Iziko Bo-Kaap Museum is actually one of the oldest houses that were built in the neighborhood. The building dates back to the mid-eighteenth century and the museum showcases Islamic culture and heritage as it depicts the lifestyle of a nineteenth-century Muslim family.
Yes, it’s absolutely pretty. Yes it’s colorful and really instagrammable. Just know that this is a poor area and it is not a safe area. We were warned multiple times and told we shouldn’t be there so early and that we had to be really careful. I suggest that you go as a group and maybe in the middle of the day when it’s more crowded but be careful …. at all time !
Beautiful and a colorful place to see and visit. Just a stroll around and you will be done in minutes. Nevertheless, a sight to see!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Definitely a must-see when in Cape Town. Lots of beautiful spots to take photos. I love how the residents have maintained the houses throughout the years. Had the most delicious koeksisters from one of the houses, where the lady was gracious enough to let us in. Watch out for the 'car guards' as they can be a bit aggressive, especially when ignored.
Loved this place !! Vibrant colours, all of the yummy smells, found a little restaurant on a top floor of a building, made the most excellent Koesusters, which was a new experience aswell.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
This place is a few minutes by taxi from most parts of Cape town. It is breathtaking to watch the beautiful houses in all their colors. I loved the experience 100%.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
It is the place where Muslims live in. In the past, they didn't have a choice how to paint the wall before there were a discipline. However, after abolishing the discipline, they painted colorfully to express freedom.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
