Overall we had a good experience, the waiter was very young. He seemed like he was still in training, but he was a very sweet guy, very well mannered. My starter, which was the stuffed mushrooms, was good, a little oily. My husband had the beef carpaccio, which was really good, big portion as well. I had the chicken gordon bleu. It lacked a decent amount of sauce. Luckily, I ordered more sauce with my meal, but what I lacked in sauce I got with my meal inside. What a generous amount of cheese sauce inside. It's one of the best chicken Gordon blue's I've had. Unfortunately, my husband's steak was cold in side, he has his steak completely raw with just a sear on the sides. Overall a good meal, friendly staff and fast service.
The food was good and the waitresses Chantal and Demi were lovely and tried hard but they were run off their feet. The food also took a long time to come out. It felt as though because it was a Sunday they were understaffed. The atmosphere was another story, the restaurant is fairly small and divided up, but where we were was a large table of guests who had put all their children at a separate table. The children were running wild and shouting as the parents too got more raucous. This is an upmarket, expensive restaurant not the Spur and ruined our visit unfortunately.
The service is slow, and the food good. There appears to be a problem with consistency there, as we were there two nights in a row, first night certain things on the menu were sold out, but service good, second night service bad, I had to ask for someone to take our order, but food was good after is eventually arrived.Food: 5/5
Terrible experience and food! Both the calamari starter and the Sunday roasts were drenched in a horrible, bland, cheap oil and the food tough and tasteless. Had one bite each of both. Waitress was snarky and owner's excuse was that they are simply sticking to the 'real' Cattle Baron recipes. Have never had a bad meal at Cattle Baron Constantia though...
Great dining experience, super atmosphere... although there may be a lot of patrons, the sounds of the people at the table closest to you is not overwhelming your conversation... Although they do use paper napkins, you would have guessed they were cotton... Will be back again!
I Was there last night and very disappointed in the food. I ordered the burger and chips - Very bland, wouldn't recommend to anyone waitress couldn't suggest anything good to eat, service very slow and it wasn't that busy. Only had one machine card that wasn't working properly so had to draw money at the atm to pay the bill, otherwise my visit there was very short, didnt attempt to finish my food. Not convenient, this coming from someone that been in hospitality for years.
Amazing food. The ribs are easily some of my favourite in the country and the steak is never a degree away from perfectly cooked! Crumbed mushrooms are a favourite as a starter as well. Drinks menu is extensive, and the bar works hard.
Fabulous food as always. Service standard Were very disappointed in the amount of deserts not on the menu . We were a party of 12. After they had closed the kitchen they came and told us kitchen closed. We could not even get a cup of coffee for our overseas guests. Not impressed.butFood: 5/5
Poor service. Had to wait at least 10 minutes to get a beer delivered to the table. When I went to query it I was told that it was ready and would be sent to the table. 5 minutes later still no beer. Food also took for ever to arrive. If it was not a special occasion I would have walked out. Manager did not appear to be too fussed. Wheelchair accessibility: A lift for disabled people is available in the center.
A lovely lunch with friends, some ordered the carvery which comes ready plated & others ordered off the menu. The food was pleasant, but I had a higher expectation for the carvery plate. My potatoes were over done & rather small compared to others, the pumpkin under done & rather hard & chicken not crispy enough with no golden brown colour. We did have the most delightful waitress DEMI which was very warm & welcoming in her demeanor & ready to accommodate us with anything we needed. We found the manager somewhat cold & distant, only greeting us briefly when leaving the restaurant. As someone who understands the ins & outs of the hospitality & food industry, a friendly gesture from him would make clients feel alot more comfortable or welcomed making them feel appreciated as patrons to his restaurant?
