CHIAPAS eat mexican

The food was divine! Such a great eating experience. And it's affordable. The tacos here are just delectable. The service however leaves much to be desired. I would go back, just for those tacos.

This is how Chiapas packages and delivers food. Then when I call them to ask they tell me it’s not their fault and blamed delivery. Is this the type of food anyone would accept? I think not!

Love their crunchy tacos. Not 100% authentic but its still got good enough flavour. Love the price, too. Under R100 per meal. Had a good first & second experience here. The staff is overworked like many, sadly, but if you are friendly they are friendly. I don't think the negative reviews about the staff are necessarily true. Everyone is going through a lot, just be as friendly as you can. The lady who helped us was very kind and acomodating with our order and we "customized" a few things - she was totally fine with it. If there is one negative point, I don't like that they charge R10 for guacamole. In a country that has so many avocados, come on. Be like Chipotle in flavour and populatiry... but don't be like Chipotle and charge extra for guac.

I would have given 5 stars But The server behind the counter ddnt warm my nachos properly and when I asked, she said the cheese is melted, it wasn't, so she proceeded to add the other toppings. The food is fresh but the shredded meat was cold, the person working there spoilt the experience. When I received my order it was cold and had to ask her to warm it up. Ddnt taste so good. She spoilt the experience.

I got a great portion of well-prepared food and enjoyed every bite. The prices are also reasonable.Food: 4/5

Such a disappointing experience. Ordered the burrito and a salad. When I bit into the burrito something cracked, turns out it was a piece of brick. I immediately phoned the restaurant as this is a health and safety issue. The lady I spoke to simply said “I’m sorry that happens”. The manager did not ever pick up the phone. Disgusted and will be taking this further.

Chiapas generally makes good food, but their consistency seems to be an issue. At my last visit, some of the ingredients I.e sour cream and tomatoes weren’t available, the explanation being “ we have run out”. My Nachos clearly clogged in the fryer so they weren’t as crispy as usually- apart from the fact that they stuck to each other, making the eating a little difficult. The melted cheese also stuck to the lid, which I hadn’t experienced before. There is a sign that suggests that criticism should be communicated via email, but since it was suggested at a previous occasion that I was merely trying to solicit a free meal, I’m rather posting this publicly this time. Earlier review 2021 - There was a time where their Nachos tasted stale, but I am glad to say that Chiapas is back to serving the best Nachos in Joburg. Total waiting time for food is also very convenient. The chicken can be a little dry, the pulled beef being much better. Jalapeños would also be a welcome option.

First point of contact with the ladies was dismal,somewhat of an attitude from the one serving me, service with a smile goes a long.I ordered a chicken burrito and crispy tacos. The tomato salsa looked 2 days old and the lady serving me wasn't paying attention to me and put hot salsa on my tacos instead of the mild one. Overall unpleasant experience, wouldnt recommend this Chiapas and certainly won't be returning.

Amazing build your own Mexican restaurant. Tacos with chicken and guacamole is my favourite. Amazing staff members, great ambiance. Wonderful flavours, all worth it & very affordable. A bit messy to eat so come prepared to have a blast!
