Our waitress Anika was friendly and of good service. Problems started when my partner complained about his steak. He wanted medium instead of getting dry, cold, and well-done steak. On return, the manager brings new steak again cold but medium. We really didn't appreciate the attitude the manager had standing at our table and telling my partner please cut and see but in such a tone and that he got it straight from kitchen now so it can't be cold yet feeling partners plate steak was cold. Manager really made us feel like we didn't have a right to complain or to say that food wasn't to our satisfaction. He left, and my partner felt that he wanted to give cold food to the manager to eat but didn't want to spoil our mothers Day evening. The new manager, a female, came to our table to check if we were good. My partner told her about the steak, but by now, we all have lost our appetite and mood for our supper. His 3rd steak came back medium and on a hot plate. Even our 6 year old son only ate half of his burger because of all this drama over a medium steak. We always love Plattekloof for the great views from the second floor of Table Mountain and the great sunsets, but for great food and great service, I think we would rather stick to Spur at The Airport, Spur in Strand and Parow Center.
Because Spur has very unwisely taken Surf & Turf off the menu. I resort to the calamari starter with 200gr rump steak as my Spur staple. The service was friendly, quick and efficient. Given it was not a packed day. Their Bar One milkshake was very good. Steak was ok! I've had better. The cut of meat was a bit chewy. Onion rings fresh crispy good as well as the fries. Calamari was excellent fresh crispy and tender. I had a good time, relaxing, I could hold a conversation over the background sounds. Chinook is clean and fresh and enough waiting staff to not have you go grey waiting. So I'll be back. Vegetarian options: There's a variety of vegetarian options on the menue. From what I saw. Kid-friendliness: There is a kids play area and coloring activities to take part. They can be kept busy enough for you to get a bit in. Parking: Lovely location... It would have more of a view if the had a mezzanine upper level. They have that ceiling height potential. Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance and floor leve has no steps ...so wheelchairs, prams, walkers has enough space to manouvre. As well as in between tables. Dietary restrictions: Not so much to say here. They are open for you to say what to exclude from your meal. Hallaal and cosher. Most Spurs are but to what degree. I don't know.
Food was good, waitress was very pleasant, just had a problem with a broken table that could have injured my child there was no wooden top on the table and the metal pieces was sticking out. I tried to put it in the least dangerous angle and eventually had to assist the waitress to move it as it could have really injured someone. Went there for my sister's birthday, it was quiet no real atmosphere or music, tvs were on mute. Good evening overall with the company we had.
Food is amazing , the service is fantastic, my favorite spur Kid-friendliness: Jungle gym and indoor play station area
As far as Spur goes, this one has never let me down. Always the best service and the best food. Their breakfast menu is great value for money if you are looking for something that is budget-friendly and still fills you up.Food: 5/5
Food was bland and dry. Waitrons lack customer service, no smile, no interaction. One of the worse Spurs I've been to. Would not recommend and def would not return.Food: 1/5
We had a nice family breakfast and it was not too busy on a Saturday morning and wow the staff served us so well! Service with a smile and the food was top notch!Food: 5/5
Ordered a rear steak, it came cooked well, ordered extra side onions, never got it but was billed for it. The manager came with the waiter and apoligised , grilled me a rear steak and took the onions off the tab, so the mistake was rectified and apologized for. Overall a good experience, good food , staff was good, waiter was very apologetic and friendly, stuff like this happens. I will go back. Overall I was happy
Took family from Eastern Cape there. Ordered 12 wings only got 8 had to ask where the rest was . It was also so small looks like pieces was cut off to put into salads or something. My husband ordered schnitzel doubel. But was so small looked like a single cut in two to make it looks like a double. We had to ask manager why it is so small and he had to bring the correct size. My brother ordered beer and we continuously had to ask where the next one was. Portions was dissapointing small and service was extremely bad. I advised the manager that this was my last time going there. Can't believe after 12 years of being a regular customer this was the service and standard of food.
I had an amazing night here at Spur, everyone was so friendly and helpful. The waffle was just as amazing. Thank you for tonight my waiter Jolanda!Food: 5/5
