Christy's Catch

Two years ago I wrote a rave review of Christy’s I left the pictures taken at the time, that has since been renamed to Indigo Moon, but with the same owners and recipes and a promise of still delivering the same high standard of food and service. The sad truth is that the standard is not being upheld. I would not change a review because of one bad experience, but this season we had no less than four bad experiences. They ranged from smaller portions and oilier food to terrible service ending up in the restaurant staff telling us that they cannot give us the food we ordered because they ran out of stock - 40 minutes after we ordered. Here and there were some glimpses of the food we know, particularly if you just stick to ordering fried hake. That is the only reason I give three in stead of two stars. I truly hope that what I have experienced, the change of name and the change of venue in a few months’ time are not the signs of the end of what used to be one of my favourite places to eat in the country …

Was in town looking for a seafood restaurant and Christy’s was one of a few opened on a Monday. After reading the reviews I thought it was worth a try. I found their food to be average however the service was good. Very local vibe

Main courses we ordered were reasonable, but the starter portions were tiny. R85 for the 4 tiniest chilli poppers I have ever seen. Tiny sample of calamari… Didn’t feel like value for money unfortunately. Service was good.

It was really great. I have never had such a nice piece of hake as this before! The service was great. St Francis Bay is an amazing town. Thanks, we will see you again!

Absolutely horrendous experience with chaotic service. We waited for over an hour for food. Then the cappuccino was cold and we had incorrect orders. This was made worse by the meal, snack baskets, which were smothered in oil and the chicken strips were raw. The Christy’s visit has been an annual tradition for the family and this is the first time we have been so disappointed. Quite unfortunate.

The service was extremely poor, worst we have ever experienced. Food was hardly stomachable, wrong orders brought for nearly the whole table, quality of meat and chicken was awful, and the cherry on top was being charged for dishes we didn’t even order.

Great food. The location is kind of gross though. The table was all sticky and the light is weird. The service was good.

The restaurant has a typical coastal type feel, very informal and friendly atmosphere. The food was amazing. The sushi is fresh and very well made. The main courses were also on point. The seafood perfectly basted and cooked. The beef rib-eye steak also perfectly cooked and the meat of exceptional quality. The service was fast, efficient and friendly not more to really ask for. Lastly prices are fair based on the quality of the food and preparation.

Great food. Will definitely give this place another visit Vegetarian options: Lovely salad and definitely not shy

You get what you pay for! Pricier side of life but the food is worth every penny! Steaks and Eisbein are absolutely delicious!!
