The Clay Cafe makes for a memorable visit of creativity and recreation for adults and children alike.

Choose from a vast array of unfired bisque and a wide selection of colourful paints to create crockery that is both personal and completely unique (not to mention full functional; all item once fired are then oven proof, dishwasher safe and microwave safe) . Spend a leisurely day painting in a relaxed environment with our friendly staff at hand to assist you with any painting techniques that you might wish to make use of.

The Clay Cafe has recently moved: Hout Bay Main Road 4080 (on goggle maps) Opposite Bokkemanskloof Estate. We have an amazing spacious patio that opens out on to the beautiful garden where children can entertain themselves and adults can sit back, paint and enjoy the view. we have a stunning farm style breakfast and lunch menu to compliment your painting experience.

I had such a fun time and lots of fun catching up with friends while painting my clay piece. The place is quite spacious and you don't feel crowded even when it is busy. The range of clay figures is much larger than the city cafe. The food was tasty and the wait was relatively short. My only issue was the payment process, we had to wait in a long line to pay which was a little frustrating as you typically expect the payment process to be faster.
Clay Cafe is adorable. It allows adults to enjoy themselves and offers the messy option for the kids as well. It's fun for the entire family. They have a variety of items to choose from, a shelf filled with colours and they leave you with your imagination to do what you please. Once completed, it gets baked in the massive storeroom. It's so hot in there. There's ample space for everyone. Even if you're not going to paint an item, you can grab something to eat. Service was great and the vibe is just mellow. A total experience for one and all. The outdoors is fantastic. I absolutely love the view. Kid-friendliness: It is absolutely kid friendly. There's outdoor activities for the kids to keep them busy.
The clay sculpture painting is truly a unique experience in Cape Town that my family love. We've been there twice now and both times we had a great time. Not all of us are naturally artistic, but none the less have great fun creating a memorable piece that I can keep forever on my bookshelf. My wife painted a serving plate which is awesome as we can actually get practical use out of some of the options. I was pleased to see young and old, men and women all enjoy the experience. They operate on reservations, but both times we were promptly assisted as walk-ins when a table opened up. They've got a secure kids play area with jumping castles and some exciting, unordinary kids playground equipment while you wait or if your kids need a little break between painting you can let them run around. Its a tranquil experience taking a stroll around in their beautiful garden area, having a look inside the warehouse with all the complete sculptures and walking about seeing what other great ideas/art, other patrons have created. The first time we went over a year ago we only had dessert but were disappointed in both items. This time round, we were ecstatic to hear that they have a completely separate Halaal Menu and many more options for us to choose from. I can't comment on the meals, but the desert we had this time was better... still a 4/5 in my books though. Unfortunately, the only disadvantage to this experience, is that you have to head back again in about 3 weeks to go fetch the baked product. It's totally worth it though as they have to heat the sculpture which transforms your art into a glossy, colourful, solid masterpiece see attached pics for before and after the baking process is done. The Clay Cafe has become an activity I look forward to indulging in over and over again in the future. The Cafe show many improvements since our last visit, boasting their success and popularity and as you can tell, a highly recommended activity in my books.

Clay Café is situated between 2 beautiful mountain ranges in Houtbay. Come and enjoy some stunningly designed ceramics and paint your heart out. Perfect for a date with a loved one, family get together, child's birthday party event or just a day out with the kids. There are something for everyone. Breakfast, lunch, kids menu, treats, coffee and much more. Health oriented, they have plant based foods and Buddha bowls. Not into the painting then go sit down outside, enjoy the view and have one of their many alcoholic beverages such as MCC, local wines, beers or ciders. Book to ensure you have a spot. You don't want to miss out. Great service, smiles everywhere you go, it's gets super busy but it does not deter the staff. They were always there when you need help. Thanks. See you soon.
Great experience painting clay objects of our choice and a delicious breakfast as well. My family and I enjoyed it - best to plan ahead what object and design you'd like to do, so you don't feel overwhelmed and miss out on time when you're there, as three hours fly by it was very busy on Sunday morning, but luckily enough staff to ensure the service was still good.

Very surprised by this spot!! Kids loved the play area, lots to do. Adults loved the food, drinks, atmosphere, and pricing. Will pop in again when I'm in the area. Parking: Parking goes around the corner, which they can indicate maybe a bit better. We first thought the place was full, but there was a lot of marking around the corner.
