One of Cape Town's best-kept secrets! This beautiful little garden cafe is tucked away in the backyard of The Opposition,a quaint interior design store in Bergvliet.

The tables are scattered around the porch and in the garden at the back of the shop and there is a cosy inside section with couches and a fire place for rainy days.

Freshly baked muffins and cakes are offered daily, in addition to a range of breakfasts, lunches and a variety of fresh juices, drinks and Origin coffee.

This is a place to come and relax, and enjoy a cappuccino with a friend, read magazines and completely unwind in a tranquil oasis that feels like home.

Huddled deep in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, this venue And let's be honest, it is indeed a venue, not simply as eatery presents a great escape in the middle of an urban area. The atmosphere is totally relaxed and friendly. More of a summer than a winter place, the venue lends itself tosmall events and celebrations. Service is sharp and food is delicious. It's not uncommon to browse the art and environment while there and it's also ideal to little ones to explore. Parking is limited and it's not the best for wheelchair users. Parking: Parking is somewhat limited
Really enjoyed my time at backyard cafe..the only problem I have is that they don't have a variety of meals..their menu is very limited..we enjoyed the food and the tranquil of the garden ..just very disappointed in the flapjacks or pancakes with the Nutella and banana which was R78 which was very expensive and not so nice too.. whereas the brownie with ice cream was only R45 and to die for ..staff was very helpful and friendly and service was food too.. Hope you understand
Peaceful and relaxing little cafe set in a quiet little garden with a fountain and trees. Even though it’s situated along main road, it’s very quiet and relaxing. Friendly staff with lovely choices for lunch or tea. Perfect spot for a quiet afternoon by yourself or for a catch up with a friend.Recommended dishesPotato Fries, Salad

Held my sister's Bachelorette garden tea at The Backyard Cafe and it was a dream! The beautiful garden setting was perfect for our flower crown workshop. The food was delicious and stunningly presented. And the lama cake.... even better than I could have imagined! Thank you so much for making this special day go so smoothly!
The perfect definition of a Backyard Café. What an incredible experience. This beautiful Café is hidden right in the backyard of a wooden furniture store. The store does EVERYTHING with wood. The Café has a nature feeling that almost makes you forget that you are still in the busy suburbs. While you are enjoying the relaxing ambience try some of the food and drinks. They have a variety of breakfast, lunch, cakes, muffins savory or sweet, smoothies for an healthier option, health fruit bowls, teas and coffees. Vegan options are also available. Go and relax. You wood not regret it

So I first came across this little gem on tik tok and immediately fell in love with this Backyard... It really is a backyard set up and it's a mix of modern and old school. I loved the different set up of tables and chairs, it's so rustic and homely. Waitresses are very friendly. The food is out of this world. This the place to do a catch up with a bestie or old school friends. You need to come early though for parking as it gets filled up pretty quickly and there is minimal parking. Awesome place from my first time
One of Cape Town's hidden gems! Nestled in Heathfield, this cafe has so much to offer. Affordable and delicious food, drinks, lazy loungers and cozy corners, make this place the ideal spot to spend your Saturday morning. Friendly on-leash Doggos are welcome, however, please note that there is a local cat on the property. The venue is perfect for small gatherings like birthdays and showers as well as just a quick cuppa joe for two. A definite must-visit! Pet-friendly @petfriendly_cpt
Stopped in for a quick breakfast with my son…. The food was amazing ! Well presented, so tasteful and delicious.. As always the staff are welcoming and helpful
