De Wet Jewellers

So due to recent illness my fingers are very swollen. De Wet jewelers in Centurion mall assured me they will add more gold and resize my much loved diamond ring to make it larger. Size N to R. However when I collected it, despite the ring now being about 4 sizes larger, it weighed slightly less than when I had handed it in!! Upon querying this, the owner Marie de Wet insisted that that’s normal, saying the weight comes off in the polishing process! I’m so confused. How can they have added metal to a little ring and the weight becomes slightly less after it became much larger ring? Can anyone help me see the logic in this please?

I contacted this jeweller for a quote on a custom item, and even though I chose not to proceed with the order, the assistance I was given was superb. Megan was extremely helpful and quick to respond to any questions or queries I had.

Rather disappointed by an unhelpful trip here. Although one can understand that a jeweller is unable to clean, value, and issue a certificate for a piece of antique jewellery, for a price, what is unnecessary was the frosty reception I received to my perfectly polite request. Fortunately there are five other jewellers in this Mall, so I did find another jewellery store able to assist. Also the other three who were unable to assist were polite and friendly. I would not recommend this store if you’re taking someone to shop for a special occasion like an engagement, because some of the shop assistants behave in a manner that could be upsetting. The store still receives two stars simply because they have rather nice jewellery.

She has given me the best service I could ask for and we have been only communicating via email. I ordered a customized ring, and honestly I'm super happy, the timing was fast, she really listen to what I was looking for and delivered even better than I could imagine. Thank you Megan for your patience, professionalism and helping me keep it a secret. And the pricing is fantastic. I will definitely be supporting them again.
