Currently having thee worst experience with Discovery. I traveled overseas in December and had an emergency and was hospitalised for a period of time. Discovery international medical travel insurance was contacted and from the minute of my emergency hospitalisation and was put in contact with the hospital I was in. Discovery MSO had tried to contact me while I was traveling and was unable to reach me, I had then made contact with them after my arrival back into the country and they had asked for confirmation of my travel dates and hospitalisation dates, of which I had given them. On this same call with Discovery MSO I had asked if they required any further documentation and or if they had any further questions and they said no. Based on their feedback it was to my understanding that the matter was attended to and all parties had what they needed and that my emergency bill with the overseas hospital had been attended to. Unfortunately, this has not been attended to and there has been no communication whatsoever to the overseas hospital about settling their bill except for one in January this year apologising for the delay in payment. I have been on two different calls with two different agents regarding this claim and still no feedback and or solutions have been provided to myself and or the overseas hospital! HOW ON EARTH AM I SUPPOSED TO FIND COMFORT WITH MY MEDICAL AID WITH WHOM I AM SUPPOSED TO HAVE THIS TRAVEL COVER WITH FOR ANY ASSISTANCE LET ALONE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION! I NEED THIS RESOLVED ASAP AND AM CALLING ON DISCOVERY TO RESPOND TO ME TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR THEIR SO CALLED TOP NOTCH SERVICE THAT SIMPLY DOES NOT EXIST!
Discovery messes up AGAIN. Last hospital visit I had issues with Discovery. I am on Classic Saver and supposed to have 200% hospital cover. I received authorization for a hospital procedure for yesterday and was told it would be covered. I was also told the medication after the procedure would be covered. Well I go to my chemist to fill the prescribed medication and I am told I have NO MEDICAL SAVINGS left I knew I had R11,000 plus in medical savings. So I check the app and see the whole R11,000 from the procedure has been taken from my savings!. I am not able to even get my medication! I am sorry to say there are people running this medical aid who don't know what they are doing! A bot is not acceptable to try and speak to intelligently!! Discovery you are dealing with peoples lives!! I have been a member for almost 40 years and this is what they do! I cannot get hold of anyone to speak to as its weekend.! Really? I pay R4000 a month to be treated like this!
MEDEXPRESS - stay away! placed prescription order - received the usual sms will be captured in 2 hrs - 24 hrs nothing- had to contact Discovery to get them to contact me and only then did things start moving - they claim delivery will take 3-4 days when i live in the city bowl and there are 2 pharmacies that deliver same day previously experienced. Sadly have to use them for my chronic meds so I don’t pay extra but will stay away as much as possible from them.
I'm going to bet you will not be refunding the 30min of airtime I wasted waiting to speak to one of your consultants. Your service is a joke. I wonder how much money is wasted trying to reach you. From all the reviews, I gather this company just doesn't care.
It's impossible to get any help from the bot or help-desk people on Whatsapp, when you do get through nothing works. Basically they slowly sap cash while not offering any advice. It's impossible to get things done, especially authorisations. The Discovery advisor I spoke with told me to bail from this insurance company
I have been trying to get a hold of a consultant to ask about urgent medical advice regarding my medical health scheme and honestly I find the automated phone answering service utterly useless. There should be a clear easy way to get in contact with a consultant. Shocking to say the least!
I've waited more than 2 and a half months for an accurate and detailed response to why a claim was not paid out. Shocking and unacceptable.
Haven't claimed in over 6 months, and every month my premium increases by random amounts, sometimes as much as an increase of R400 per month, with no prior warning. Absolute crooks.
Absolutely terrible experience with Discovery Health & Vitality. Medical treatment not covered, Vitality premium being debited during a free trial period. Service consultants not resolving support queries. I would not recommend Discovery Health.
All I can say is that Discovery is only about making money. Their agents don't know how to read billing, neither do their billing agents know either. I have spoken to 4 different agents, all giving different stories!
